Ratings and Reviews
Very good in some areas; still needs improvement
We’ve been using InspectIt for about three years now, and are still generally pleased with it. It does everything we need it to, but certain things are poorly done. Example: to take a picture, you need to do at least six taps, and if you want to take more than one in an area, you have to do each picture separately. Since we take about 200 pictures per inspection, this gets VERY old.
The templates are very easy to edit, but again, there is functionality missing. You cannot re-order the check boxes, and are forced to redo them if you want to insert an item anywhere but the bottom. You also cannot re-order subsections or tabs.
AHIT has had its ups and downs with regards to customer support as well. And I wish they would integrate with ISN so we can upload reports directly, rather than having to export to a Google drive, download it to a desktop, and upload to ISN from there.
Still, it is a robust system that works well, so we will be sticking with it for the time being. But we still research new software every time we go to InspectionWorld, hoping for the Holy Grail of reporting software that does everything perfectly.
I’m having an increasing number of Realtors and clients contact me with problems saving/reading reports, invoices, and agreements. They are using Adobe Acrobat and DocuSign on both Mac and PC. These problems were sporadic with the 2.1.8 update in November and have picked up with version 2.1.9 in February. InspectIT support has been dismissive blaming the problem on users’ software. One closing company that has been handling my invoices just fine (when file sizes were around 3KB through November 2017) now tell me they cannot save my invoices (which are now 578KB and sent in a PDF/A protected format). They us Windows PCs and full versions of Adobe Acrobat. They’ve resorted to printing and re-scanning my invoices; making me a difficult inspector to work with.
I’ve also had to resort to creating my own inspection agreements in Word and saving to PDF to send to clients or Realtors because InspectIT’s PDFs won’t load into DocuSign.
I’m fairly invested in InspectIT but I can’t afford a reputation of being an inspector who creates reports people can’t access.
Closer, but need a couple more fixes
I’ve used InspectIT almost since its inception. I’ve been through the shut downs, the getting kicked out when taking pictures, losing reports at many misc points through the inspections. The updates have mostly helped me but I still have a couple requests. Allow me to change the font size once so it applies throughout report on any entry, and move the garbage cans icons on the summary page away from the right edge so I don’t accidentally remove Major or Safety sections in a heartbeat, or add a prompt when the garbage cans are hit that reminds user, “ are you sure up you want to remove whatever section”
