Are you sick of sounding out of tune with other players even though you've just tuned up? Intonation Station creates a profile of your instrument's intonation while you play your favourite tune, revealing the exact notes you need to work on. Detailed analysis is generated automatically that enable you to get the best from your instrument, including charts and scores for intonation and note consistency.
Intonation Station is aimed primarily at wind instruments (keyed or valved), but can also be used with strings, non-keyed/valved instruments like the trombone, or voice training.
It's also a valuable tool for musical instrument technicians, greatly speeding up assessment of an instrument's characteristics before servicing.
Intonation describes how in tune a musical instrument is with itself. All acoustic instruments are a compromise between note quality and tuning. Some notes are consistently sharp or flat and it's difficult to tell which ones by using a normal tuner, since it's well known that musicians play differently in performance. Intonation Station generates a profile of your instrument's Intonation in a clear chart, that tells you immediately what notes you have to work on, or whether you need to call in the technician!
Is it you, or your instrument? Consistency Profiles show the range of tuning for every note you played. If the range is wide, you may need to work on your technique. If it's narrow but some notes are badly out of tune, your instrument may need some work!
Intonation Station generates a detailed analysis, revealing various areas you can work on. Try to beat your best Intonation and Consistency Score. Look up your flattest, sharpest, or least consistent pitches. Intonation Station assesses your instrument to provide the Best Pitch for Tuning, for tuning up before playing.
Intonation Station includes a high quality tuner, matched to your instrument's key, and capable of Equal and Just temperaments, to tune up before you start.
You can export your Intonation Profile as an image to share on email or social media.
Set your Instrument Key, choose between Equal and Just Temperament, select your colour scheme, exclude short or bendy notes, and other tweaks to suit your instrument and playing style. You can even set the tuning pitch for Concert A to suit older or baroque instruments.
We're determined to make Intonation Station the best possible app for enabling you to play perfectly in tune, with full documentation, tutorials and case studies on the website. Please get in touch with suggestions for any new features you'd like to add, or existing ones you think could be improved.

Great for anyone and it shows that tuning up does not mean you play in tune. Can see other uses like evaluating horns at a music sore if you are in the market as it runs on your phone. There is an export function so you could email to you teacher. Love how the graph sows the notes in order rather than the order you play them and if you make adjustments it shows the delta. You can archive you results and label. I indicate the instrument, mp and reed and date. As you progress and or change equipment you now can record the results. Thanks.
Eye and ear opening.
This app is the best I’ve seen for mapping and improving intonation. Its immediate feedback allows me to hear myself better right away. I can’t wait to see how much my intonation improves!
Not for strings
I’m a violin teacher and I thought this app could help my students approach their intonation more objectively. Unfortunately, this app only considers just and equal temperament, while strings usually use the Pythagorean system.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
