Developed as an art project, this app gives the user a means to visualize the latent history of irradiated mice used in nuclear research. Site specific to the Niagara Falls Storage Site (NFSS) the app gives the user geo-locative feedback. As the user draws closer to the epicenter—the burial site of 270,000 irradiated mice—a higher volume of animated mice on the users’ screen indicates their proximity. The animated mice function as a compass: they run towards the NFSS.
