Ads affect the experience terribly

It feels pretty crappy when an app, that is so reliant on user input for their content, changes course in such a way that iOverlander has. The content was built using free input from users. I do not recall iOverlander offering to pay me for my insights on locations I have visited.

In general, charging for the app is not a problem. It is the new fee structure that is. This is a seasonal app for most folks. Charging a subscription is what will keep me off the app.

I’d advise a $49 one time fee. When I think about the apps that I do pay for that have a similar fee, they are apps that have high content acquisition costs and are apps that I use about 300 days per year.

For folks who remain in free mode - The large screen blocking ads seemed to be reserved for the worst of apps, and I am saddened to see that this app is employing them now. They have constant running ads at the top of the screen with tiny navigation buttons next to the ads….in addition to full screen ads. The full screen ads are the type that take a minute to find the ‘close’ button.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. We are continuously working on improvements and hope we can provide a better solution for the full screen ads soon. We hear you!

Ch ch ch changes- be patient

This app is amazing. The latest version is still a work in progress and requires continued support and patience by the users. The creators of this app have been urged by frequent users to charge a fee for years. They finally did it and now the freeloaders are complaining. If you don’t want to pay, don’t pay. There are many other travel apps out there. But this one is absolutely the best, most comprehensive package available. Try all the others that are “free”. And when you don’t find the info you need, come back and pay the 27¢ per day to join a community of compassionate, mindful, supportive travelers.

BTW- if you are a frequent contributor, be sure to contact them for your free subscription!

Subscriptions are way too expensive

I understand the need to bring in revenue to support the app, however, $99 a year is just too much to obtain essentially the same functionality as the original app + favorites. I think a $99 lifetime and a $4.99 monthly for unlimited would be more reasonable and I would be willing to make a purchase.

This app is literally charging almost as much as a Netflix subscription for way less content and for most people relatively infrequent use.

The pro subscription seems pointless as it’s still quite restrictive and annoying. Just offer unlimited with more reasonable pricing and it will probably get more than 2 stars.
