This app is useful—I’ve used it since its original release—but it’s been over two years since the last update… and it shows.

- upon opening the app, it tries to paste from your device clipboard (security flaw)
- the menu/hamburger button does nothing
- there is still no landscape mode on iPad
- when getting directions to a recycling center—instead of opening Apple Maps—it opens a website link in Google Maps

One thing I will say I like is that there is a tab that links directly to the Recycle911 articles; I subscribe to the e-mail list, but like having the link in the app, too, for when I just want to go directly to the site.

iRecycle is a well designed application that allows users to look up a myriad amount of products from categories of all types ranging from automotive to household goods to see how to recycle them. The app makes it simple by choosing a category from the main menu page and then selecting a product from that category. After selecting a product, based on the location given by you, you will see a listing of locations nearest you that recycle that item. The app also contains an informative news articles section that gives helpful information regarding the recycling industry. For those who love, are forced or just are used to recycling this app is for you.

Needs a search feature

As most of the other reviews say, this app is great for finding places to recycle all sorts of materials. However, there have been a few times that the current directory-style functionality has not been sufficient. I’ve tried looking up things like bubblewrap envelopes or styrofoam, and they didn’t show up in the expected places. I literally went through every category in case they placed it somewhere unexpected, but even then I’m not sure if I missed it. There should be a search feature for situations like these.
