Iris - A Ride KC Partner 4+

My overall experience with Iris has been okay. For the most part drivers are reasonable and will drop you off in a safe spot. I had a driver leave me in an unlit unsafe drop point at 4:30 in the morning and her reason for leaving me was that was where the app told her to leave me. I immediately began to cry because when I say there was no street lights and it was a wooded dead end!! I asked her to take me to the corner where lights were and she refused! I begged her and offered to give her a tip for her inconvenience she still made me get out and left me!! If I knew her name I would have definitely put it on here. But other than having to ride for an hour and being left in an unsafe area I can’t complain. $4 to get around the city is a steal!!

So this app was created, mainly for the Gladstone area whenever our KC Metro bus system was taken out of Gladstone. And two weeks ago they allowed rides outside of the Gladstone area. And I just got off the phone with them and they informed me that they are not offering rides outside of the Gladstone area if your pick up location is in Gladstone like got so messed up like how are you gonna be taking away the transportation option that was put in place because our best system was taken away. Like this app really does need to do better because there was a lot of people relying on the app to be able to go to places outside of Gladstone, and it’s especially irritating. When rides were available literally like 4, 5, 6 days ago and now they’re not and we’re not even being notified of these changes like who’s making the changes. Like I was using this app to help me get back-and-forth to work to a good paying job so I could save up to get a car and now they have taken that option away from me and now I have to not work there and now I have to wait longer to get a car because now I have to find a new job.

I’m writing this as I deal with their horrible customer support. The app was pretty good at the beginning, but as time went on it became a horrendous experience. Drivers not arriving at the destination, the ones who actually arrive are rude and belligerent, and they don’t drop you off anywhere bear your actual destination. I have to walk 20 minutes to get to work from the drop-off point. Sometimes the drivers are nice and drop you off at the exact spot but that’s 1 in 10. The customer support is extremely horrible and super tedious. I’ve called 7 times about my driver not arriving to the pick up spot and each time they’ve told me that I “missed the ride.” And I’m forced to use this app as it’s the cheapest option compared to Uber or Lyft. At this point I am going to use Uber. It may be more expensive but at least I’m guaranteed a ride on like this horrible app. Never again.
