I gave it a shot
Unfortunately after quite some time of “giving” this app a shot, I can truly say it’s not worth the money we paid for CaccoonCam. I knew coming from that system that it would be different and we’d lose features we paid for but we didn’t realize how much we’d lose.
The system is difficult to connect to, it’s slow and has a response to current lag time, the picture quality is poor and there are times when you can’t even load the livestream. I wanted to like the camera system but it’s very poor. My husband and I were lucky that we didn’t need need the system like when our son was a baby but it was still nice to know what our mischievous toddler is up to once in a while.
Needs to be plugged in to work so limits where it can be set up in my home but it works perfectly for me to keep an eye on my kids so I can get stuff done in another part of the house. I have two boys and of course they play fight and I can see (and hear) whether they are playing or trying to kill each other (haha). I haven’t spoken through the speaker to them yet but I love this feature. I could see my sleeping toddler in his bed by adjusting the light and could zoom into his face pretty easily, see his eyes were closed for about 7-8 feet away, pretty impressed for 25 bucks! I may buy a second so I can have one in their bedroom and another in the living room or maybe for the front porch where we keep our jogging stroller, it isn’t hard to move around but for $25 it’s prob worth it: you can load up to four cams on the app and watch simultaneously!
**After reading the other reviews I really wish it had a motion sensor alarm so I could have that feature for my 3 season porch for when packages have been delivered when we aren’t home or just to have while away for a long weekend. If it had that feature (which it seems it used to but maybe the reviewer is confused with another brand) I’d buy another one right this minute!
Sorry Cocoon Cam Users... It’s Terrible
When Cocoon Cam dropped their app support I thought for sure they would refer their customer base, who paid $230+ for a baby monitor with breathing monitoring, to a strong video streaming service. I knew that the breathing monitoring would be gone, but with my daughter being nearly 18 months old, I didn’t really need that anymore anyway. I don’t even know where to start with how bad this app is. It doesn’t pair correctly, so sometimes there is no sound, other times there is no video, it only pairs PER device...so you want to pull your child up on another device while you look at your phone? Sorry, gonna have to wait until they wake up and pair it separately. It also is incapable of running in the background, so if you close out the app, it drops the signal and there is a 50/50 chance it gets it back. Finally (and maybe most importantly for parents) the sound and video are very delayed. I would attribute this to my internet, but Cocoon Cam did just fine. The video is so delayed that your toddler can be out of the crib before you see it registering on the screen.... so sorry Cocoon Cam users...time to buy yet another baby monitor.
