Mild to moderate hearing loss

I have mild to moderate hearing loss--there are a few spots in the top of my range I cannot hear. This isn't usually a problem, but a large portion of one of my daughters' voice range is in the area of my loss. I put in the ear buds and had her cover her mouth. I could hear everything she said, unless she was whispering VERY quietly, then I could only hear half of her words.

The downside:
One was, I had to listen to my own amplified voice. I'm guessing that is a downside of all hearing helps.
The other downside was that it made a very high pitched squeal (like a real hearing aid, according to my husband). The squeal was annoying to my daughter; when turned down it wasn't too bad, but I couldn't hear quite as well.

The interface was easy to use--I typed in the information from a recent doctor visit and I was pleased with how simple it was to get started. I don't have other aids to compare it to, but I think it's a great place to start--like buying reading glasses at the dollar store.

Bottom line: I give it five stars because it's free and it works quite well for discerning speech. I'm guessing the app will improve over time, but I'm pleased that conversations with my daughter are now back in good form.
