I would’ve given Jewel five stars however there needs to be coaching/training around drivers and delivery to walk ups. As an amputee veteran sometimes it is difficult to carry cases of bottled water or sodas upstairs or some days I’m not well enough to shop which is why I utilize Jewel delivery. However the the last time I used delivery the delivery man complained and fussed about bringing my groceries upstairs to my unit and I was advised not to order heavy items such as cases of water or to meet them downstairs. I didn’t enjoy that experience but overall a good service. So if you don’t have a walk up then this would get five stars and I totally recommend using them.
Easy Ordering; Lots ‘out of stock’
-The app is really easy to use and order from.
-The drive up service is very convenient. I have a new baby, and not having to truck him into the store has been great.
-You don’t need to order 24 hours in advance like Peapod. I can place an order at lunchtime for pickup after work.
-I have often had orders incomplete because of items out of stock.. sometimes I get that they could be out of some things, like a specific bakery item, but once they said they were out of strawberries and I had run in the store to get a last minute birthday card and they had a ton of them right at the entry.. it makes me think they are just unorganized
-They use a ton of plastic bags for no reason.. I had an order with 6 individual yogurt cups and they were in three bags with only two yogurt each and no other items.. that is just one example. It makes me feel guilty using the service
Out of stuff they have plenty of
Pretty sure the shoppers just say heck with it. We’ve been using curbside pick-up due to Covid and having a new infant in the family. Every order is at least 25% incomplete. You can’t really plan dinners. Simple stuff - like tater tots we’ve tried to get for weeks - show available on the app, and we don’t get it. Last order, no Swiss cheese. That kind of stuff. I am 100% sure if I walked in the store they aren’t out of tater tots and swiss cheese. This still applies to the App rating. Maybe it reflects an issue with the store instead but if orders aren’t fulfilled what’s the point?
As far as the app goes, seems to show different items than the website. Searching for items works pretty well but can take a little ingenuity. They need to clarify how many you are ordering - 1 lb or 1 tomato?
Finally - again a Jewel thing not the app - disappointed our neighborhood Jewel (Wheaton Danada) doesn’t offer curbside, schlepping us to Naperville.
On the plus side, the staff who bring things out to the car are courteous and hard working - they along with the check-out staff are front line heroes.
If order fulfillment was more reliable (and units ordered clearly specified) -> 5 stars.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
