Kainos HL7 Editor Companion detects and captures HL7 v2 messages on any webpage in Safari — entirely on your device, with no purchase or companion app required to get started. STANDALONE MODE Open the toolbar popup and select "Capture from clipboard" to extract HL7 v2 messages instantly. A lightweight detector recognizes HL7 v2 content as you browse, and the right-click menu lets you send any selected text straight to the editor. No account, no setup, no companion app needed. KEY FEATURES • Automatic, on-device HL7 v2 detection that stays out of your way — a lightweight check runs only when you focus or paste into a text field, never as a background page scan. Detection works on any site by default; site-level controls let you limit or block detection per site. • One-click "Edit with HL7 Editor" button opens a captured message for validation, transformation, and field-level editing. • Send edits back to the page with one click. • Customize the on-page button: standard or compact icon-only size, manual or automatic site-matching color with built-in contrast checking. • Works fully offline via the system clipboard. OPTIONAL ENHANCEMENT: KAINOS HL7 EDITOR For teams who want the full desktop editing suite — segment-level parsing, field-level validation, transformation, and export — Kainos HL7 Editor Companion can optionally connect to the separate Kainos HL7 Editor desktop application over a local WebSocket connection (127.0.0.1 only). A one-time trust prompt confirms the connection before anything is shared. This is entirely optional — every core capture and clipboard feature above works without it. PRIVACY-FIRST DESIGN FOR HEALTHCARE HL7 v2 messages frequently contain Protected Health Information (PHI). No data ever leaves your device. Network access is limited exclusively to 127.0.0.1 / localhost for the optional desktop connection — there are no external servers, no accounts, no telemetry, and no cloud storage. Kainos HL7 Editor Companion brings professional-grade HL7 v2 detection and editing to any web page in Safari — an EHR test harness, a support ticket, a lab interface console — entirely on your device.
