The Kaiser Permanente of Washington app makes it easier than ever to manage your health. Exclusively for Washington residents, the app offers quick access to virtual care, finding a doctor, exchanging secure messages with your care team, managing prescriptions, scheduling visits, paying bills, and more. Additionally, the app is integrated with Apple Health Kit.
The refreshed home page includes new navigation making it easier to find multiple ways to get care online or in-person. Quickly find care recommendations for an ongoing health concern, a new health concern, and see all care options, including 24/7 Care Chat with a provider.
Enhanced navigation organizes the information and features you need into convenient sections:
• Appointments – view upcoming appointments and visits and see your after-visit summaries.
• Messages – exchange secure messages with your care team.
• Medications – refill or transfer prescriptions, see a list of your medications, view pharmacy wait times, or chat with a pharmacy representative.
• Records – access your test results, after-visit summaries, health summary, routine care reminders, and share your health record with non-Kaiser Permanente providers. Additionally, you can upload health and fitness data, including data from the “Apple Health app” when enrolled in our Care-companion programs.
• My Plan – pay a bill, view your statements, Explanation of Benefits, Benefits Usage, and coverage documents.
• Locations and wait times – find the nearest Kaiser Permanente medical facility, schedule a phone, video, or in-person visit, view upcoming and past visits, and see wait times for pharmacy and lab.

This app has me logging in almost every time I navigate to a new page. It's as if it might be a patchwork of apps badly patched together. I get new notifications for messages I have already read and deleted. The very worst part of Kaiser Permanente's computer system is that there is no way to completely delete a credit card from the system. I have 3 credit cards in the system that seem to be there permanently. No one seems to think it is an issue when I would prefer to have no cards saved. Two of the cards are obsolete because they were canceled due to the information on them having been stolen and used. I have called tech 3 times, talked to pharmacy--where they cannot "see" any saved credit cards, gone online--where I "see" no saved credit cards, but when I go to an appointment my cards are in their system. Frustrating and just plain not good.
Creating an good app shouldn’t be that difficult!

I changed my original password per recommendation by Kaiser. My iPhone is linked to my iMac. My password update “should” have updated accordingly since it’s linked to my PC. Apparently, that doesn’t matter… But then, herein lies the rub. I try to change my old password to my new one, and it refuses to update it! One issue is that Kaiser’s online form won’t permit the user to “view” the password while entering it in. If you’ve got the smaller iPhone like I have, it’s easier to press the wrong key. Since I cannot see what I entered, I can’t correct any mistakes if made! I swear! It’s easier for someone attempting “identity theft” to login than for the actual user! I wonder why they make it extremely difficult for the actual users to log in, or change their password? It makes no sense since I’m entering in my own personally identifiable information! My iPhone uses my thumbprint to log in, so why doesn’t that suffice?! Why do I have to go through so many steps while continuing to fail to open my app? What kind of application programmers does Kaiser hire to create their phone apps? What boggles the mind is how despite linking my phone to my computer, my login info is not updated accordingly? I’ve wasted more time trying to login WITHOUT EXCEEDING THEIR 5 FAILED ATTEMPTS AND YOU’RE OUT WARNING! This is ridiculous! My fingerprint recognition should be enough!
Only offers “I Agree” button for tracking what you do

You can either agree or force the app. Kaiser will not allow you to use the app without agreeing to have all of what you do be stalked by a third party that they hire. In the same breath they say our information won’t be sold to anyone while also saying that a third party will be doing the analyzing. You have NO options to turn off everything other than necessary cookies. They want to literally stalk every single movement of yours so that they can make personalized ads and undoubtedly in my mind sell your information. Why would a health company need any of this other than for nefarious deeds? I have never encountered a company that just flat out only gave an “I agree” button and no option to reject. Your information getting stolen by hackers is not a matter of IF but WHEN and the more companies you give this information the higher your chances are of getting completely screwed. None of this is necessary for Kaiser to function in offering doctors appointments and to refill a prescription. I will simply keep calling them to do every single menial task for me since I cannot go on the app to do it myself. I wonder if their pharmacists and secretaries enjoy the increased workload from denying me access as I refuse to give my rights to privacy to a sketchy company trying to profit off of my data?
Needs work

I tried to use this app to manage my health care (instead of having to go to a laptop, which I don’t use much). The “messages” icon will not open on my phone, and I missed very important instructions about a procedure. It is not red (or otherwise indicative of important info), so I wrongly assumed I knew what I needed to know. I couldn’t have been more wrong. My pre-procedure prep contained hardcopy manufacturer’s instructions (which I followed) but they were not enough. I ended up having to do my colonoscopy without sedation because I didn’t have a ride home (also in a “message”- unavailable on my app) and the only other option was to reschedule (after nearly puking, not sleeping, and not eating for almost 2 days?? No thanks!) Why they won’t let me Uber home.. why they won’t simply send me an email or even a text link with instructions- I can only assume these are all legal protections on their end. But seriously- is anyone actually testing the app they are expecting us to rely on? Perhaps it’s just my iPhone is (dated) but their IT dept should be confirming compatibility before releasing it. Moreover, the app is cluttered and difficult to navigate. I often find myself just giving up. I couldn’t even find the time of my procedure (only the date was listed). As It turns out, the time was sent in a message (again- which I could not access).*By the way: I am not allowed to use the standard KP app (this app has very good ratings) because I do not live in Longview/ Vancouver area. I tried, but the app rejects attempts to use and then directs you to download the KP/ Washington app. Total Circus, and unfortunately I’ve learned the hard way that I have to use a desktop/ laptop to manage my care from now on.
