Description

Kareero is an interactive interest assessment that offers an immersive experience where you are challenged with developing a gardening program. Through your choices and actions, your interest areas are uncovered. Used with Agriculture in the Classroom Canada’s thinkAG website, Kareero helps you explore careers that match your interests.

Kareero is based on Dr. John L. Holland’s, Holland Code model, also known as the RIASEC system. The Holland theory suggests there are six broad categories into which careers can be grouped based on people’s personalities, preferences, and interest areas:
o Build (Realistic)
o Think (Investigative)
o Create (Artistic)
o Help (Social)
o Persuade (Enterprising)
o Organize (Conventional)

Pick the activities you want to do, make your own choices, and discover your interests to learn about which careers are customized for you!

What users have to say about Kareero:
• “It helped me learn more about the type of person I am when it comes to tackling projects and emphasized which aspects of the project I was most eager to work on. I like that I was able to choose what part I wanted to play in the project, and do activities involving things that I take interest in.”
• “This app gets people to use both their thinking and creativity skills.”
• “Kareero was very easy to navigate. As a teacher, I like that the underlying theme is career development based on skills and task preferences, but in a way that is not obvious to the user.”
• “I liked how you chose tasks and completed challenges without realizing you were completing an assessment.”
• “I like the idea of introducing career choices via Holland code - what you’re instinctively drawn to vs. job tasks. It's almost a reverse way of discovering a career path for those who haven't yet developed the connection between their aptitude and career fields.”

TOP FEATURES:
1. Experience fun challenges and tasks, while simultaneously completing an interest assessment
2. Provides results consistent with question-based Holland Code/RIASEC tests
3. Users can receive a PDF copy of their results (highest scoring interest areas and suggested careers) if email address is provided in-app
4. Ability to generate teacher codes to use with classrooms to maintain records of individual student results
5. Learn about how food is grown and produced
6. Relevant and complementary to career exploration school curriculum

English and French language options included. Total simulation experience takes approx. 10-15 minutes. Most suitable for ages 15-17.
