A Good Start

I hope the developer does not mind me adding a review.

It is looking like a really good start for a place to read and write. I like that it is named after the species of bird — I am assuming it was — since there are fledgling writers and readers of all sorts with the written word in whatever form it may be. It is just good to foster a love of literature and creativity.

The developer is really open and interactive with feedback too. You really appreciate the care and effort put into this app. That is what made it 5 stars for me — just that simple passion and care. I hope the network here draws good people from all walks of life and backgrounds. It is already a good app not even 1 year old.

I’m a big fan of this app. I think this is what folks need to get writing and out of their heads. I love that the minimalism of the app forces you to train your attention on the words. I really hope it never incorporate images, though I think there’s a place for audio because of the audiobook experience and poetry, and lyrics. I’m based in Los Angeles, and host writing camps. I’m building an open source sandbox story world for kids to participate in, notching up my own interest in fanon communities. Nerd culture is squeezed, currently, by the yoke of massive corporations and it’s losing the punk emphasis on decentralization that drove its origins. I think apps like Kestrel can have right some of these wrongs. So I’m going to message the English teachers in my network to use Kestrel to host writing contests. To incentivize the kids, I’ll give away gift cards to the kids with the best stories. But they’ll be posting their stories on Kestrel. Why? Cause I love Kestrel. I would love to see some of the public domain articles culled. I’m here to participate in a community of writers, not peer over the past deeds of the dead.
