KeyKey is a minimalistic touch typing tutor for Mac. It’s suitable for beginners who want to learn basic touch typing skills, as well as for advanced users seeking to master alternative layouts like COLEMAK or DVORAK. Improve your typing speed today!
Touch typing is not about key arrangement, as you might believe. It’s about training your muscle memory, making your fingers remember the micro motions unique to each language.
KeyKey knows the most popular letter combinations and words of your native language and utilizes them in lesson generation, giving you extra practice for the letter combinations that trip you up.

A big part of typing faster is using the proper finger placement. The app makes this easy with its built-in virtual keyboard. This keyboard models proper hand placement in real time and shows you which finger to use for optimally typing each letter.
Real World, Real Words
To generate lessons the app digested over 1,000 books and articles for each language. The wordlists for the app’s lessons are derived from these materials, and ranked from common to uncommon. Whether you’re trying to improve speed in your native language or trying to type faster in a new one, you’ll get typing practice with the phrases people actually use.

Impresive app, even more impressive developers.
I purchased this app over a year a go. It was great when I purchased it & since then its gotten better and better. I feel like this is a model development team. They consistently release meaningful updates and have greatly improved its UI and functionality. I have yet to be asked to repurchase, or subscribe even though the product I initially paid for has been improved dramatically. It seems rare these days to have that experience. Its obvious these developers care about their product and the people that use it. I recomend it to anyone whos interested in expanding their typing skills.
Great typing tutor
I switche to DVORAK from QWERTY with KeyKey. It took about 2 months to memorize the keys and 3 to become moderatly proficient. I come back to KeyKey once a week to practice.
I hope the developer considers adding addon packs maybe as in-app purchases for this like programming languaues or popular editor trainers like VIM.
Developer Response ,
Yes, we are planning to release additional lessons for programmers with the ability to add your own texts or code. You plan to sell it with in-app purchases. This task is in progress.
NOT worth it.
There is nothing impressive about this app. It doesn't keep a statistical history which if you're serious aobut improving your typing is a requirement. Very little customization as well, essentially "what you see is what you get." There are a few toggles for things such as "uppercase", "punctuation", etc. And probably Light / Dark theme (I don't remember). But over all that's about as basic as it gets.
Two Stars because: The app is clean, and It is good for extremely basic learning... But it is certainly not even remotely close to being worth the money at all. There are far better options that are free.
At this price point I would at least expect progreass analytics (stored locally and NOT calling home). Items like "keys most frequently missed", and then a tailored type experience to assist with those often missed keys.
App misses the Mark, will request refund, will be uninstalled.
Developer Response ,
SnurferDerp, if you made a refund, contact me via email, and I’ll send you a redeem code for free download — firstname.lastname@example.org.
As for your comments: you can see the statistic and learning progress in the Statistic section. Just press the diagram icon in the bottom right corner of the app.
All statistic is stored locally, but we use iCloud to synchronize with all of your devices. Also, it’s a backup for you, so your progress will be secured.
We don’t «calling home» or send this statistic to someone else. It’s in your iCloud account and encrypted by Apple.
Also, we are going to release an update next month with more analytics data, languages, and daily goals. I hope you will have the opportunity to try it.
