Bug fixes and improvements

[Text Stories] You can now publish Text Stories. Within this new feature, you can share your thoughts with your friends, writing up to 1000 characters and choosing colourful background. Simply go to Timeline, Add New Story as usual, and choose “Text” to enjoy the new story creation mode. [Stories progress bar fixed] Before the fix, when you watched a Story, the progress bar was not moving. Now it’s fixed, so you can track the time left to display the story. [Changing profile and cover photos on SuperUser account] You can now set and change the profile avatar and cover photo on your SuperUser account.

[Drawing on Stories fixed] Before the fix, you could not draw anything beside dots on your Stories. You can now draw any shape you want in all available colours. [Displaying a Story improved] Before the fix, when you wanted to display a video Story that was longer than 5 seconds, it loaded infinitely, making it impossible to see the Story. Now it’s fix, so the Story is displayed properly regarding the video length.

[Behind-the-Scenes Improvements] We’ve migrated our AppDelegate from Objective-C to Swift to keep things fresh under the hood – and we’re cooking up some brand-new features just for you!

[Incoming call and system notification improvements] The issue with duplicate voice call notifications has been resolved. It is now possible to answer a call from any notification—whether you are in the app or on the lock screen. All other notifications disappear once the call is answered or declined. Additionally, calls should no longer disconnect as frequently during the session. telephone receiver [Improved story reply message] We add replaying support for story reply message. [Fix for can't exceed limited photo access from photo picker gallery] Now you can access your library more convinient way, faster and easily pick your images and videos from the phone photo gallery. framed picture [Some minor fixes for bugs and crashes] We fixed some top crashes and bugs to improve app stability around chat and stories.

[Go to group chat participant' profile faster] When you have a group chat opened, you can now tap on someone’s avatar to open their profile quickly. It is a fast and easy way to send the direct message, call, or check someone’s Timeline or profile details, without the effort to search for this person. [Custom ringtones] You can now set the unique ringtone for each of your friends on KingsChat. Use the Contacts app on your iOS device and then follow one of these steps: add KingsChat friend profile to an existing contact (to use the same ringtone as when they are calling your phone number), or: create new contact and set the custom ringtone.

[Opening chat on the last read message fixed] Before the fix, when you opened a conversation, it scrolled you up to the random place. Now it’s fixed, so when you open the chat, it shows you the last read message.

[Crash related to online status fixed] User online status should work smoother.

[Editing messages fixed] Before the fix, when you edited a message in a way that changed it length significantly (from short to very long message and the other way around) or added / removed link to a message, it couldn’t be edited. Now it’s improved, so when you change message content, it is updated properly. [Toolbar no longer hides the chat] Before the fix, when you stop typing a message to send the picture or attachment, sometimes toolbar tend to hide behind the sent file. Now it’s improved, so if you interrupt writing to send something during typing, the keyboard is minimized. To start typing again, simply tap on the text field. [No possibility to call Private Account] Before the fix, person unfollowed by a Private Account had a possibility to tap Voice call or Video call options in the chat with you, but in reality they were not calling, because you never received the notification about their call. Now it’s improved, so call options are hidden for such a person.

[Followed by people you follow] You’ll now see if someone is followed by people you follow in the search results. [Edit messages with links] You can now edit messages that contained a link, even if you remove the link preview. [Email interaction improved] Copying email addresses is easier, and tapping them will now open your Mail app directly.

[Recently searched people] You can now check the list of KingsChat users you recently searched for. When you open a search bar on People tab, before you start typing, you can see up to 30 people you were looking for and opened their profile. [Most frequent crashes fixed]

[Messages status changing from Delivered to Seen fixed] Before the fix, already read messages were not marked as Seen unless you closed the chat. Now it’s improved, so the unread messages counter indicates the correct number of new messages. [Persisting red bar after ended call fixed] Before the fix, the red bar at the top of the screen sometimes remained visible, even after you have hung up the call, making it impossible to call again. Now it’s fixed, so you don’t have to reopen the app to get rid of this problem, red bar will disappear properly and you will be able to make new calls without issues. [Chat toolbar resizing fixed] Before, when you pasted a long text into the chat and hide keyboard or tried to edit a long message, toolbar was not displayed as expected. Now it’s improved, so you can write long messages and the chat toolbar is going to resize properly. [Leaving group as the last participant] Before, it was not intuitive to leave the group as the last participant left. Now it’s improved, so you will see clear question if, as the last person present, you want to Leave and delete the group. [Confirmation of deleting 1-1 chats fixed] Before, when you tried to delete the 1-1 chat with a person, you saw the misleading Leave group? pop up. Now it’s changed, so it’s not confusing that you actually delete 1-1 conversation and not leaving the group.

[Redesigned chat toolbar] You can now enjoy new toolbar design which will make writing messages more comfortable, intuitive and pleasing to the eye. [Filtering chat list] You can now switch between the view of All your chats, Direct ones and Groups! This improvement makes it easier and less overwhelming to navigate the long Chats list. [Crash-free app launch] Before, when you launched the app in some specific cases, it would immediately crash. Now it’s fixed, so you can open the app without any issues. [Easier chat menu opening] You can now tap on someone’s name or group chat name in the selected chat view and have easier access to Media Folder or a person’s profile, or group info.

[Transfer of group ownership] If you are the group owner, you can now pass this role to another person in two ways: when leaving the group, you will be asked to choose new group owner or when opening Group info and scrolling through participants list, you can “Make (someone) group owner” without you leaving the group. [Information about successfully Copied or Forwarded message] You will now get confirmation (see a snackbar) that the action you performed was done successfully. [Search by username in Conversations] Thanks to this, you can find not only your 1-1 conversation with the searched person, but also group chats in which you both participate.

[Performance improvements] Before the changes, every action like pinning, sending message, muting conversations etc. was triggering chat reload, making KingsChat work slower. Now it’s improved, so chats reload time is decreased. [Crash fix] You will no longer experience app crashing when exiting the chat conversation.

[File sending date in Media Folder] You can now see the exact day, month and year when the file was sent on KingsChat. This info is available for each file, and can be found in Media Folder’s tab called Files. [Improved long tap on messages] Before, when you tried to open a bottom sheet with messages actions (like Reply, Forward, Edit), it might happen to accidentally add heart reaction to message by double tapping it. Now it’s improved, so the time needed to long tap a message was shortened, and the vibration indicating the opening of bottom sheet is present, so you should no longer accidentally heart a message.

[Stories notifications management] You can now choose if you want to receive push notifications when “Your friend added a Story!”. [Swipe to reply] You can now open Reply mode on any message by simply swiping it. [No crash when opening stickers] You can now open Stickers in chat without getting app crashed.

[Reaction notification redirects to the specific chat] Previously, when you clicked “Your friend reacted to your message” push notification, you were redirected to the all Chats view. Now it’s improved and more specific, so the notification will lead you to the exact conversation in which the reaction appeared. [Messages drafts in 1-1 chats] Before the improvement, KingsChat saved your draft of the message in the chat, but this feature was available in group chats only. Now, you can also keep your drafts in 1-1 conversations.

[Scrolling in Media folder fixed] Before the fix, when you tried to scroll down looking for some old images in Media Folder, you were constantly redirected to the top of the Photos & Videos section. Now it’s fixed, so you can search for old images & videos by scrolling through months without any interruption. [Crash-free searching] Before the fix, if the latest message in any of your chat conversations was a long text reply and you clicked Search, app crashed. Now it’s fixed, so new messages don’t affect the possibility to search for messages. [No crash when selecting videos from phone’s gallery] Before the fix, KingsChat app crashed when you tried to select videos to send from your gallery. We made several adjustments to handle potential errors more robustly in the media-picking process, so you can now select videos crash-free.

[Long replies displayed correctly] Before the fix, when a reply to a message was very long, there was no quote displayed, indicating that the message is a reply. Now it’s fixed, so the quote is visible at the beginning of the message, so it’s clear for the user that the message is a reply.
