Description

KMFA 89.5 Classically Austin. On Key, Offbeat.

The brand new, redesigned KMFA mobile app immerses you in handcrafted classical music experiences. You can continue to livestream locally curated music and learn more about the dynamic hosts, programs, and events, but the new “KMFA Soundtrack of Austin” allows you to experience classical music in an entirely new and connected way.

Take a classical music tour around Austin anytime you open up your app. Hear and feel the connection between both iconic landmarks and local favorites with curated classical music. Like an audio tour through a museum, the app tells you about the significance of each location and why the selected piece fits that location. KMFA created the Soundtrack of Austin to show how beloved music inspires life in Austin.

KMFA 89.5, Austin’s listener-supported classical music station, reflects the creativity and eclectic nature of Austin itself and is essential to its thriving cultural arts community. It is the premier destination for classical music listeners across Texas. And, around the world, KMFA enriches and transforms the lives of adventurous classical music lovers.
KMFA 89.5 is an independent public classical radio station. KMFA serves approximately 100,000 listeners each week and features both locally produced shows like Classical Austin, Film Score Focus, and Classical Guitar Alive, as well as nationally distributed programming from Public Radio International, American Public Media and National Public Radio.

Sleep timer

It streams really well, but it doesn’t respond to the iPhone’s built-in sleep timer. Hopefully the developers can fix that or add one of their own?

It's not a tuba! ,

Works great

I like the listen live feature as well as the new city audio tour. What a great way to incorporate Austin landmarks and Austin history into the classical music I listen to every day! It adds a new layer and perspective to the pieces.

Weird blips while streaming

KMFA is my favorite of the available classical music apps, but when I use it, there is a very audible “blip” every 4-5 seconds. The timing and the sound itself are random—never the same twice. Can anyone help me fix this?
