Charting Made Easy! No more graph apps for me.

If you are tired of using the graph paper settings on your regular note-taking apps, where you are limited to the number of blocks per line and page - this is the knitting app for you.

If you want to track your rows completed on a stranded knitting pattern without having to print out or mark up a graph paper pdf - this is the app for you.

If you want an easy way to do simple 1-row modifications during knitting an original pattern because your contrast color needs to be used for one more row, or you miscalculated that the carried color would be at the working end but it is still a row away — this is the app for you!

I haven’t used most of the features yet because this app is so easy to launch that I just began. I had to redraw my partial test chart only once, and the second test ended up becoming my final stranded knit sleeve in 3 colors, for a project I’m knitting now - this is the app for me!

The app crashes quite a bit while it is saving maybe, or maybe it is an iPadOS 13 interaction? But it almost always saves all work and I have not lost work except the last few rows a few times. I also cannot properly move a set of rows up to allow insertion of a new pattern in between, which would be helpful during designing, but that may be my newness with the app.

Thank you for this app!!

Very fine app for simple designing

I have tried a more expensive app for knit designing and another for following a knit design but I eventually found that I couldn’t afford the rather expensive annual subscriptions for a couple of apps that I used only once or twice a year. Along comes this app that combines a streamlined option for both of these apps.

This app is a bit sparse on explanations but with a bit of experimenting it isn’t too difficult to figure out how to use it and it includes a number of features that the other design app was lacking.

If the designer finds ways to improve on this app I don’t mind at all paying for an update but I really appreciate that I don’t have to pay an expensive annual subscription for an app that I only use once or twice a year at most.

If you like to make or tweak your own designs this designer offers the basic app for you to preview but you will want to pay for access to all the features if you find the app to your liking.

Although there is admittedly room for future improvements this app is well worth the cost for what it currently offers so I’m giving it 5 stars.

Thank you for making an affordable knit design option!

Simple but sophisticated!

I’ve used a number of apps (including Illustrator) for designing colorwork charts and this app is far and away my favorite! Don’t be deceived by the simple interface, Knitting Chart is feature packed and thoughtfully designed.

I am using it primarily to quickly work through variations for colorwork patterns that I then export into Procreate to implement into layouts for sweater designs. I love being able to build a swatch palette based on actual yarn colors simply by importing a photo of the yarn skeins and letting KC convert the colors to swatches.

I look forward to experimenting with charting non-mirrored double knit designs. Charting those by hand to show both sides at once can be tedious and confusing. KC quickly generates easy to follow charts with written directions.

When I first started working with KC I had a bug that caused the app to crash when adding custom colors. Piet, the developer was very responsive and continued to work on the issue until the problem solved.
