Korean Cuisine (한국요리) originated from ancient prehistoric traditions in the Korean peninsula and southern Manchuria, evolving through a complex interaction of environmental, political, and cultural trends.

Korean Food is largely based on rice, noodles, tofu, vegetables, and meats. Traditional Korean meals are noted for the number of side dishes that accompany steam-cooked short-grain rice. Kimchi (김치) is usually served at every meal. Commonly used ingredients include sesame oil, doenjang (fermented bean paste), soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes and gochujang (fermented red chili paste).

Ingredients and dishes vary by province. Many regional dishes have become national, and dishes that were once regional have proliferated in different variations across the country.

Useless app

This app is totally useless. It only gives a very brief description of the food, a generic list of ingredients, and a vague history (sometimes). Certainly doesn't live up to the description it gives before you buy it!

Useful for traveling in Korea!

As a vegetarian who doesn't speak or read Korean, this app has been super-helpful in letting me know what I can eat, ask about, and avoid. I love it! (I am not trying to use it for cooking.)
