Get started:
To get started, you just need your Customer Relationship Number (CRN), your Debit / Credit Card PIN or your Net Banking password to get started. The app will take you through a one-time activation process when you login for the first time.
Kotak Bank App requires following permissions:
- Contacts: This is required to allow you fetching mobile number while mobile / DTH recharge or sharing IFSC/MMID
- Location: This is required for Branch / ATM locator
- Photos / Media / Files / Camera: This is required to let you access gallery / click an image to set profile picture.
- Phone: This is required to let you dial customer contact center
- SMS: This is required to auto activate the device during activation process.

Issues with faceId

Everything works well on App till I used faceId to login, If I try to open a fixed deposit, expectation is that it should go through since I have opened it through mobile banking earlier , but It asks for PAN number somehow, which is up to date for me. For the same flow if I provide my MPIN it works as expected and opens a Fixed deposit.

In case of faceId expectation is that it should show some relevant error or ask for MPIN which looks like mandatory for every monitory transaction. Please look into this and let me know if I am doing any wrong.

Excellent app but few loophole

I love using this app for its easiness except for few things. First if one logs out of app, the face ID immediately signed you back so I have to hold the phone away from facing while signing out. Secondly more interesting is that I have this app installed in my previous iPhone and later when I got new iPhone I used iOS quickstart method to setup my new phone. To my surprise this app was installed and active in my new phone instantly without asking for verification. While I understand that its good but it has dark side too as long as you’re in safe hands. I also had other banking app and those asked me to verify before giving the access. It deserves 5 star only if these two things got fixed.

Forcing to visit branch for simple updates

Very worst experience and full disappointed. For everything simple getting the answers like Sorry sir, pls visit nearest Branch..For phone update forcing to visit the Branch even in this COVID situation. I told that I don’t have access to my old phone number and request to update new phone which I can provide OTP. Is this due to security reasons? How about if ur customers effect by ur branch visit? How about the customers currently in other country for a year or so who don’t have access to old phone and wish to update their new India phone number? How about a new customer having my old phone number to open account in Kotak? I cannot update to new phone and other person can’t open new account.. without thing this basics how can take these weird decisions?This is nothing but loosing the customers and leads to redirecting other banks..
