I’ve left the Stone Age

The app and the trading section or the website are great. I moved to this exchange because it has overall almost all the coins I want. Very user friendly interface and has 2FA support. Fees are not the best but also not the worst on the market. They are middle of the road. I’ll leave what exchange I came from undisclosed. Reason it’s not a 5 star review: 1. No direct transfer. Only offers wire or coin transfers. Really would like this implemented. 2. The website (not trading section) could be organized a little more to asset management, etc. The trading page is great though with allot of customization options. Honestly this is not a big deal as the app is very good. Enhancement suggestions: 1. Widget support. Would be nice to have a favorites widget in the app. 2. iPad native app: Would be nice but not a big deal as you can just favorite the trading page on safari to your Home Screen and it serves pretty much as a native app.

Jasper Ash ,

Stick to Coinbase if your portfolio is less than $10k.

I really WANT to like Kraken. But it’s really only for serious traders with a larger portfolio. I wanted to switch from Coinbase after reading reviews and exploring the website. I thought I did my homework but I can’t help but feel misled by Kraken’s fantastic marketing. The KYC and AML process is painful - it took a week to have my account verified (but I get the importance of this for customers in the USA considering the large deposit limits). You can only deposit USD via wire transfer. So that’s a 1-3 day waiting period and $25+ charge from your bank, and then another $5 from Kraken. I guess I assumed that Kraken would allow ACH/EFT deposits like Coinbase. The app is pretty good overall, and so is the desktop website. There’s a lot to like here. I would like to think that as I grow my portfolio and fall deeper into the rabbit hole of crypto, I will get more use out of Kraken. But for now, being somewhat new to the space, its not for me.

If you’re not a serious trader with a larger portfolio, stick to something more suitable for beginners like Coinbase. Beginners and retail investors with less than $10k will likely be disappointed.

Hello Jasper, thank you very much for your valuable feedback! We will take your suggestions into account and will keep improving the app and overall user experience, incl. verification processing times. Best, Kraken

Design could be way better

When comparing Kraken to other trading apps and the way they work I have to say kraken is at the bottom of the food chain. Simple things like not being able to go from a chart you’re looking at to trading the coin of the chart you were just in just seems so counterintuitive. I have to say the flow of the kraken app and even the desktop website itself has just always been annoying and hindering to the trading process especially when trying to execute a trade quickly! Finally I have to say also that the flow of using the app takes a whole lot of getting used to but most of us know you just have to deal with it when the coins you’re looking for may only be available here…with that being said this new update as of late July 2021 doesn’t make the app any better, it just moves things around and makes that learning process start new again and it’s extremely frustrating. Please, I encourage the devs to evaluate how other popular trading apps like Coinbase or robinhood work because it’s their workflow and ease in navigation that make them so popular at the end of the day and you could really make Kraken a contender with those if you just fixed these little things. Thank you!
