Outdoor flying impossible
I tried a lot with this drone, most my flights were indoor so I can practice using it. However I tried using it outdoor the last month and it is impossible. When there is the slightest wind it just drifts away, even when GPS is fully engaged.
Today I almost lost the drone in the ocean, because the app all of the sudden just crashed! And the drone just kept drifting away..(I calibrate it every time I fly) lucky I got it restarted just in time and was able to emergency land it just a 1m before the water! This is all software related, the drone hardware should be all good..
Please fix! The drone just stay where it is when there is no input, and the drone should land when the app crashed (best there where it took off)
GPS not functional. Now fixed! Flies like a charm.
The app has the feel of alpha ware. Messages are confusing and there are serious english translation issues. Needs a careful walk though by a quality assurance tester.
The GPS doesn’t function and the software prevents takeoff. I burned a lot of time trying to make it all work. However, after trying multiple options and firmware updates, the GPS just doesn’t work and the bird remains grounded. Hopefully it’s just the software and not a design flaw in the bird itself.
Overall build quality of the Kudrone looks good. They just need to get their interface cleaned up and the GPS fix released. If Apple is causing the delay then hopefully they’ll release soon.
Update: Kudrone released version 2.3 and it delivers everything they promised. The GPS is fixed, the bird flies, the instructions make sense, and there’s a user guide. Kudos to them for pulling through. The controls and hover seem to work great although I’m still working through the tutorials so my flights have been pretty basic so far.
App only connects to Drone Wifi if cellular data is turned off
GPS also does not work on my drone. Outdoor flight is impossible. Drone just flies away!
I have increased the rating by two stars because the Kudrone team is working with me to resolve the issues one by one. Once the WiFi issue is resolved, I will engage with them on the GPS issue.
A workaround for the failure to detect that the iPhone is connected to the Drone Wifi is to go to cellular settings and scroll down to app permissions and remove the permissions for the app to use cellular data.
