No other Austin media brings you national and local news like KUT 90.5 FM. KUT is more than just Austin’s NPR Station. Our listeners can tune in 24 hours a day for news and information from NPR, PRI, the BBC and our own newsroom. Staples like Morning Edition and All Things Considered from National Public Radio, plus programs like The World from Public Radio International and BBC News Hour bring global perspectives, and award-winning local news from KUT's reporters, are all in the palm of your hand. Download, tune in, and listen wherever you may be.

In this new version you can read KUT news stories from within the app, as well as top stories from NPR and the Texas Standard. You can now also receive important news alerts and notifications from the KUT newsroom--we promise not to spam you with too many messages, we'll just alert you when there's important information to share with our audience. You can always opt to turn this off! We've also included access to many of our podcasts episodes. Once you've found your new favorite, just subscribe to it on your preferred podcast app.

The KUT app provides an all digital, efficient stream using the AAC+ codec. It sounds great on all platforms, devices, radios and over cellular. You can of course listen to KUT when you're traveling outside of Austin, and even the country, to stay connected to home. Tap in some headphones or plug your phone and have a listen!

If you're also a fan of KUTX -- The Austin Music Experience, please download the separate version of that app as well and tune in for music discovery journey. The KUTX app has the current playlist and the same great audio. We've separated the apps so we can bring better and different features to each in the future.

KUT 90.5 FM is a public radio station from The University of Texas. We broadcast from the Moody College of Communication in the Belo Center for New Media on campus, bringing you 24-hour news and information from NPR, PRI, the BBC & KUT News. Go app.

The app isn’t perfect for me. Sometimes after pausing it will jump around a few minutes into playing again. Probably something to do with the buffering. That said I like being able to pause my “live radio” and don’t just wish my phone had an FM tuner onboard. This will do. Love my local NPR station. Welcome any future improvements to the app.

Two Star App for a Five Star Station

KUT Radio deserves better! I listen to a number of regional public radio stations, many by using that station’s app. Most all function properly. Many appear on screen much like the KUT app. My major complaint is that the KUT feed occasionally just instantly switches back ten seconds to a minute or more and continues playing. That’s rather annoying. Although more annoying but less common is for the app to stop and pause the device. My intervention is then required to restart the app. Listening to the opening promos repeatedly does get boring. I understand the need to promote programs as well as to recognize those who provide resources to make KUT possible. I have NO problem with the opening material. Just seems maybe once per listening session would be enough. Of course, a sorry app in no way keeps KUT from being among the best of public radio stations I listen to.

This old app needs updating…

I used this app for years with no problems at all on an iPhone 6. On my updated phone - an iPhone 13 mini, it is impossible to use. The home page is sized incorrectly for the screen, so that the on/off icon is almost completely blocked, “below” the bottom of the physical screen. When I *can manage to turn the app on, there is no volume. Perhaps there is another adjustment I am unable to see? Regardless - please update the app! If I cannot listen to the news, the rest of the articles are meaningless to me.
Am deleting for the time being.
