Version 1.9.5 still does not reload key file

In looking for a replacement for KeepassX I chose KyPass for the Mac because the iOS version worked very well for me. However I found in the Mac version if you use a key file for 2 factor authentication you must reload the key file every time. Besides being a general nuisance to all, it is even more irksome to users with a mac that supports touch id as having to reload the key file prevents touch id use. This issue was recognized in the previous version and appears not to have been fixed in this one.

The Best in a Sea of Mediocrity

For what it does, KyPass Companion is solid and stable on OS X 10.9.
Where is falls short is in look, feel and polish overall. This feels like a very rushed, slapped-together application that DOES offer some nice features but the overall experience isn’t great.

Yes, the icons for the entries can be updated from the corresponding URL, however the changes aren’t permanent, often reverting back to the default icon multiple times during a session. Granted, not a big deal but annoying.

The password generator automatically generates a new password the first time you click in the text box. It shouldn’t. There’s a ‘generate new password’ button on the right, when I click into the password text box nothing should change. Again, annoying.

There are several little bugs along these lines that are simply annoying while not posing a security risk or affecting the stability of the OS.

Where it DOES shine is the iCloud sync feature, sharing the database seamlessly to my iPhone through the KyPass 3 app. Very nice, quick to update and easy to access from one platform to the other.

Basically, it does what it’s supposed to, there’s not really anything in the way of an alternative so until such time as there IS, I’ll continue using KyPass Companion. As soon as an attractive alternative is offered I’ll definitely move on unless changes are made here.

does not sync in Dropbox

I have purchased KyPass for my iPhone, MacBook pro, and iPad. In the past I was able to sync the password file via Dropbox but now have not been able to do so for months. I have spent hours online searching for the way to fix this and have tried changing settings in both Kypass and Dropbox but nothing has worked.
