Description

The La Marzocco Home Mobile App connects the home machine and the home barista in ways never before possible. When using the app, the phone becomes a new display for the machine. This display makes it easier and more intuitive to adjust the machines parameters such as temperature and pre-brewing. Moreover, thanks to the app, the smartphone can be used as a remote control for the machine. For Linea Mini, Linea Micra and the Gs3 the app features are: in local connection the possibility to schedule weekly scheduling of On/Off times and in remote connection the possibility of turning it On and switching it Off. Thanks to these features, the machine will always be hot and ready, whenever, without wasting energy or time. The Mobile App’s control panel for the Linea Mini and Gs3 gives the user a real-time feedback over use. When you are not brewing coffee with the app it is also possible to read news about the world and community of La Marzocco Home, watch tutorials on how to use La Marzocco Home products, and read FAQs to help you brew the best coffee possible. Lastly, with its internet connection, it will now be possible to benefit from new and exciting updates, as we add new app functions in the future.

Great App, When it Works

I am using this app with the Linea Micra. The app is required in order to make basic changes, so it’s frustrating that LM is ignoring the basic requests/complaints in these app reviews.

1. When setting up the machine for the first time (or after a disconnection) the app lacks basic instruction for bluetooth connectivity. It simply states to turn the machine off, and then pair via Bluetooth, which does not work. I had to email LM in order to find out that you are supposed to turn the machine off >> Flip the paddle >> and then turn the machine back on in order to engage bluetooth pairing mode. It would be nice if LM took the time to add this instruction in the app, as there is no way that someone would figure that out on their own

2. If I don’t use the app for a few days, I am forced to log back into my account, and oftentimes it forces me to reestablish my bluetooth connection before the app can be used, which is frustrating if I am not at home (E.x., trying to turn on and warm up the machine before I get home).

If the items above were fixed, I would give a 5-star review. When everything is working as intended, the app is great.

Very Cloud (🤡) dependent

Being the exclusive app for interfacing with or controlling one of their machines, and that both phone and machine could communicate directly (Bluetooth), it’s super frustrating that this nearly completely depends on reaching random servers out on the internet to do things like reconfigure the machine’s schedule.

If only they’d provide a local webUI for configuring the machine. I’m perfectly able to search their (odd) website and the general internet for support & info, tho this seems to be a significant function of this app.

And all this is beside the fact that they’re not terribly forthcoming about the specific ports the machine needs to reach on which internet hosts, and for what purposes. (I’ve tried asking many times.)

Not quite sure what others are seeing

I just got my new machine about two weeks ago, and have found the app easy to use. I’ve been able to update firmware, set the auto on/off schedule (albeit with a few quirks), and adjust the in-boiler temperature on the fly to maximize my coffee experience.

In terms of apps that do what they’re supposed to, this one actually does.

Having to set it up using Bluetooth at the beginning is actually pretty simple and akin to any networking equipment I’ve had. Prefer that to trying to get on a 2.4ghz network when you’re running a 5g one.
