La Marzocco 4+

The app is not intuitive and lacks instructions. The interface is poor for the home user with many functions not visible unless connected via WiFi. This appears to be an early effort on an integrated app solution for all LM hardware and I hope that it will evolve to work well for the home user. Simply - not a premium experience commensurate with the premium pricing and product.

Previously using the “La Marzocco Home” app. Huge, HUGE improvement over the previous app. Painless set-up process, painless firmware update process. New UI is a massive improvement over the previous app, much more responsive and up to date, with appropriate scaling. Finally includes the ability to invite other users to control the machine (couldn’t even log in on multiple devices in the previous app). Includes settings for pre-brew without plumb-in and now shows stats for brew time. This app was long overdue for these premium machines, but I’m glad they took their time because the developers nailed it. Well done!

This is a disappointing redesign from a user experience standpoint and unstable. It seems to ignore all design guidelines for accessibility. The fonts are tiny as others have noted. The doesn’t coordinate with my system wide font size settings. Where is the dark mode? The app uses low contrasts in color making it difficult to read. Where is the setting for F/C for temperature. I haven’t found it yet. And last and most frustrating is that the app seems to randomly TURN ON my LM despite not having a scheduled setting for that. I’m very disappointed given the high quality of the machines this app should support.
