This app puts a lot of effort into getting to know you through the detailed questions asked during profile setup. The more effort you put into your answers, the better your matches seem to be. I also really like the search feature, where you can use specific keywords to find matches based on interests like “fashion.” It’s also great that the app shows how and why you’re compatible with a potential match, making the experience feel more personalized.

I’ve been using Laguna for a while and it’s just incredible how accurate and detailed the comparability reports are. It really helps me understand not just my potential match better, but even draws on insights that I didn’t even really think about myself. I love how easy it is to use and the onboarding is extremely engaging. This is better than Hinge or Tinder by miles and I actually feel like I’m accomplishing something with my dating life on Laguna.

While the app has great features for potential emotional chemistry and compatibility for activities, these facts are SELF REPORTED which is something to keep in mind.Most potential matches I have been fed live in another state so have little to no viability. At this juncture I am basically a beta tester... so I'll keep trying to train the algorithm for what I want with respect to location and compatibility features.With respect to the message window, only 2 lines of text are visible making. This make proofing and correct a message frustrating and time consuming. I suggest drafting your message in notes or email and pasting into the app to lessen proofing frustrations.

Most dating apps seem to feed people short term dopamine hits by getting matches in quantity but not really isolating on quality. Laguna attempts to really zone in on what makes a compatible match beyond just the superficial. I like how it iteratively tries to learn what type of person you’re looking for so you can find the perfect match. It’s a slower burn as others have said but it’s worth it for those looking for deeper connections.
