LangJournal is an app designed to help you develop language skills by keeping a diary. It supports English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Swedish, and Tagalog. An AI feature instantly reviews your diary for grammar, vocabulary, and syntax. There is also a feature for learning with friends in small teams of up to five members. You can join a team and exchange diaries and comments with people studying the same language. Keeping a foreign-language diary can be challenging on your own, but it becomes more manageable with supportive peers. Strengthening your writing skills makes LangJournal ideal for test preparation, including TOEFL. Feature Details: ■ Instant diary corrections powered by AI Your English compositions and diaries (and those in other languages) are corrected by AI. Three distinct AI engines are available, each offering unique correction styles. You can receive three different sets of correction results. Writing a diary and receiving immediate feedback helps improve your language skills. ■ Chat and Conversation with AI You can interact with the AI via text or voice, allowing you to practice language skills in a conversational format. ■ Share diaries and connect with peers in teams Form teams of up to five members, share diaries and comments with each other, and provide mutual encouragement among users learning the same language. Group study can boost continuation rates more than threefold compared to studying alone. ※Currently, this feature is available only for learners of English, Korean, or German. ■ Pose questions to ChatGPT You can directly ask ChatGPT questions about translations or expression improvements for practical learning support. This lets you receive instant feedback and effectively enhance your language skills. ■ Evaluate your journal entries with CEFR levels Your diary is analyzed for vocabulary, grammar, and verb usage, then rated on a six-level CEFR scale from A1 to C2. ※Currently, this feature is available only for learners of English. ■ Attach images or videos to entries You can attach up to four photos or videos per diary entry. Pairing images with your text makes revisiting your diary entries more enjoyable. ■ Record and verify pronunciation with voice recordings After writing your diary, you can record your voice and save it in the app, helping you check your pronunciation. Reading aloud strengthens memory retention and aids in real-life conversations. ■ Translation You can translate your diary entries. Verifying how naturally they read in your native language can further aid your language learning process. ■ Multiple diaries a day You can write as many entries as you wish, and each one will be corrected by AI. ■ Passcode Lock If you prefer privacy, lock the app with a passcode. Face ID and Touch ID are also supported. ■ Reminder Function Research indicates that continuing for over 21 days makes it easier to maintain the habit. Studies also suggest that setting a fixed daily writing time further aids habit formation. I have many language apps. They all seem to do word to word translations. This is the only app I found with tips so your phraseologysound authentic. It is the app I have been looking for.

Add CEFR to more than English learners!

App is mainly only geared towards English learners. Most of the good features that would draw interest aren’t available for any other languages. The CEFR tracking is a powerful feature that drew me to this app; mainly because I want Spanish and French CEFR certifications in the future. This would have helped tremendously towards my goals. This feature should at least be available for Spanish learners being that Spanish is in the top 3 most learned languages in the world.

I like that this journal gives prompts and corrections, which is what I was looking for in an app to improve my writing and grammar in Spanish. However, I can’t find the teams or CEFR analysis functions, which I think would be very helpful with this additional feedback and community.

Currently, CEFR is only supported for English. As for the teams, we support German, English, and Korean. We plan to gradually add support for more languages, so we kindly ask for your patience in the meantime.
