Description

LanScan is a simple and efficient IPv4 & IPv6 network scanner that discovers all active devices on any subnet: the local one, or any public subnet that you configure.

IPv4 Features:
→ Auto-detection of configured interfaces: Airport, Ethernet, Virtual interfaces ...
→ Scan the IP range you like, from 1 IP to the whole IPv4 address space!
→ Scan your local network with ARP packets
→ Scan public IP network ranges with Ping / SMB / mDNS packets
→ Display the IP address, MAC address, hostname (4 max) and vendor associated
→ Discover the SMB domain if any configured
→ Hostname resolution: DNS, mDNS (Apple devices) and SMB (Windows devices)
→ Custom hostname edition
→ Custom comment for each device
→ Open custom URL in browser
→ Export results in CSV files
→ Hide/show each column
→ Align each column as you want
→ No limitation on the number of devices found !

IPv6 Features:
→ Displays Link-Local (private) and Global (public) IPv6 addresses.
→ Like IPv4, some features in free trial and full unobfuscation through an In-App Purchase
→ Go in Help → In-App purchases for more details

Restrictions in free trial version compared to Pro In-App Purchase:
→ Some hostnames, comments, TCP ports or IPv6 addresses might be obfuscated in free trial
→ The free trial only obfuscate results, but display them all : if a column is blank or empty, buying a Pro In-App feature won't make any new result appear.

What’s New

Version 7.2.0

* Fixed a bug in ping where color could be red instead of green
* Fixed a crashing bug when scanning mDNS names
* Fixed a crashing when setting custom names in specific conditions

One of my favorite tools

Lanscan has always been apart of the toolset I use to help manage networks and I never really thought about leaving a review until I ran into another networking tool and realized how great it was over the 5 years of me using it.

I never had a problem paying out in supporting the developers over these years (Even when they moved licenses around a few years back but they still helped the loyal customers!) and I never thought to leave a heart warming review until now, so I want to say THANK YOU. I love this tool and the work that went into it as simple it may seem. It's really worth the money (A few cups of coffee). Especially since they just updated it for the new M1 Macs (When I eventually get my new mac I can continue to use it!) and most importantly affordable with a one time license, what more can you ask for? 😌

Simple and Straightforward

I have been using LanScan now for years. If you want a simple and straightforward discovery tool, it doesn't get any better than this. If I need to dig into the nitty-gritty of what is on the networks I work on, I use another tool, but if I want to know at a quick glance what is out there, this is my first option. Could it be better? Of course. I would love for the software to give me the same level and variety of information regardless of the subnet my machine is currently on. YES. For those that constantly work in a multi-subnet environment and only want one tool to parse network data, this is not the best choice. If you don't mind data-holes in your reports and just neeed to know what IPs are in use, this is an excellent tool.

Hi Yguerra, thanks for your feedback and your suggestion : it's a nice enhancement to do multiple subnet scans. Added to development wishlist

Easy and informative

This is one of my most used utilities when working on my various IoT electronics projects. Great for getting the IP addresses of my devices and labeling what is what and telling at a glance if they are online. If there were an easy way to see recently added devices it would be perfect (I have over 50 on my main network).
I like that the "scan from" addresses automatically changes depending on which of my WiFi networks/hotspots I connect to.
The developer is always tweeking and improving this app; it is updated more often than anything else on my Mac. I've even grown to like the duck icon as it makes it really easy to spot!

Developer Response ,

Hi Bill, thanks for your feedback and your kind words, indeed "Time since discovery" & "Time since last seen" are two columns which would add value and easy to implement, added to dev wish list for coming releases! Enjoy LanScan!
