Latch is the first smart access system that eliminates keys and automates access for everything that needs to happen at a modern building. Open your door with a Doorcode or an app, instantly provide access to all of your favorite people and services through smart Doorcodes, and record everything that happens while you’re away.
Use of the app requires Latch hardware to be installed at your building. To learn more about our products visit www.latch.com.
This update features an improved Setting Up experience along with other bug fixes and optimizations.

Great idea, annoying in reality
Moving into a new building with latch this month seemed so cool. No key, no coordinating with guests to get in, sounded great. Reality is that it’s notably slower than a key or fob and comes with all the fun of unlocking your phone and being sure it’s charged (thus the access card but then why?)
I realize that doesn’t sound like a big deal but think about your day. How many times do you go out of doors, into community areas, unloading groceries or headed to the gym. It’s not like 30 second matters but then again, it’s not exactly like it does anything for you that a fob and key didn’t cover either. At least not that I can see — I’m sure communities love the control but that doesn’t help end users.
Great example of cool sounding tech that just isn’t all that practical so far.

Great Idea poor execution
Had a horrible time after I decided to rent a place for couple nights which used latch on everything (Airbnb). Owner sent the passcodes, 90%, yes you read it right, 90% of the time the keypad would NOT register our entry. It felt like the keypad was built in 80s where the rest of the industry uses touchscreen on everything. I had to call the owner 3 times to get the passwords which were different each time and I found myself lucky if one of it would work.
In two days of my stay, I must have spent 1-2 hour trying to figure this out, this is a lot of time when you are tired from walking all day.
The app is cute with nice commercial but it doesn’t (yes it doesn’t) allow you to subscribe to their app. You can’t make it past the signin page where you won’t be able to sign in because you are not subscribe to it, hint !!! adding a subscription button would help. How is the renter or person getting Airbnb suppose to register? There are no instructions on the website or in the video or in the app. I hope they can fix it or make it more user friendly, otherwise it doesn’t stand a chance in this day in age.
Desperately needs Apple Watch support
This system needs Apple Watch support. In reality you often have your hands full and trying to reach for a phone out your pocket to open a door is annoying. The app works otherwise and it's great that you can provide access to a friend or service person. But you gotta get watch support to make this system more practical!
