Crosstalk - AI Immersion 9+

If you want to practice crosstalk, but you don’t have somebody to practice with, this is a pretty good alternative. Cross talk is where you speak only in a language you know very well, and your partner speaks only in the language, you are learning. It takes the focus off your output, and let you focus only on understanding your target language.

I am removing one star because even when I select “Superbeginner” It is still using words slightly above my comprehension. However, when I ask it to rephrase or say something more, simply it can often help me understand without resorting to a direct translation.

Sometimes after about 20 minutes in a session, the app will get stuck in a loop and not be able to continue the conversation. When that happens, I just have to close and restart.

If the develop to work out the kinks, this app could become a go to for my language learning!

I stumbled into this app on Reddit, someone had suggested it and I said what a cool idea. At the time there were only four languages supported on the app. I messaged and said “what a bummer, I wish the app offered Greek”. Well, sure enough, I think the owner (or one of the developers) responded and said I’ll let you know when we get there. To me, in typical app fashion, I just dismissed this, but was thankful I was at least acknowledged. Further, I’ll let you know when we get there usually means, see you in a few years. Sure enough, three days later, I get an email saying someone responded to your Reddit post, (since I post often I wasn’t thinking of what it could be) low and behold Greek is now inside the app. Just for this alone, I recommend using the app!

Amazing app. No complicated point system. No leaderboards to worry about. No scripted conversations. You're having a quality conversation with an AI as if you were speaking to a native speaker. What I like to do is I have a list of "ice-breaker" sentences from Google Translate in my target language of topics that I like. Then I start talking to Crosstalk exactly as if I was speaking to a native Russian speaker. Crosstalk is very good at correcting the ways I put my sentences together and explaining new words.
For someone with zero experience in your language, you have the option of replying in your native language.
