Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) exam is administered by the Association of social Work Boards (ASWB®). It is extremely important for you to know your jurisdiction’s laws and regulations regarding the licensing process. They vary and also as do the fees. Therefore, follow your jurisdiction’s procedure. All candidates need to download a copy of the ASWB Candidate Handbook, which will be a great help through the registration process.
After you have received notification from your jurisdiction’s licensing board that you may take the ASWB examination, you must register with ASWB and pay the required exam fee (US$230 for the Bachelors or Masters exam; US$260 for the Advanced Generalist or Clinical exam). Note: ASWB’s fees are separate from any fees payable to your jurisdiction’s licensing board.

Few questions before you must buy
Still uses DSM-4. You only get to answer about 50 questions before it tells you that you must purchase the full app to go on. There are some words missing on questions, but easy to understand.
Does not reflect how the test is structured
The LCSW test (which I took and passed) is mostly about social work: identifying immediate needs with questions like “what is the FIRST thing the social worker should do?”; determining the most germane assessment tools like “in this situation what is the BEST way to determine x?”; etc. There is no need to know the specific DSM-5 and ICD-10 codes. You’re more likely to need to know how managed care works or the difference between supportive housing and residential treatment than about cross-cutting measures. This app made me feel like I was completely unprepared because I hadn’t memorized a codes for medication induced akathisia and I wasted time trying to correct that. You’re better served getting flash cards off of Brainscape and shelling out some cash for an ASWB practice test.
