Descripción

Learn Yiddish Alphabet Now app is a learning tool to help you learn to read and write both the print and the cursive Yiddish alphabet and letter pronunciation. Yiddish uses Hebrew letters, however the letters are used a bit differently.
The entire alphabet with the Hebrew letters is presented in 10 lessons that cover both print and cursive scripts and specific Yiddish pronunciation and use.

After covering each lesson, a multiple choice quiz will help you test what you've learned. With its simple interface you can learn the 'alef-beys' in a few days.

Program covers:

- Ten lessons with print and cursive script, mini-flashcards
- Includes Yiddish letter combinations, like tsvey vov and dalad-zayen-shin.
- Drawing letters
- Pronunciation
- Quiz for all the letters

Study the letters in each lesson and write them down several times. Use the Write tab to learn to write letters in both the cursive and print scripts.

Click on completed, once you know the lesson.
Use the quiz to test your knowledge. Only the lessons marked completed appear in the quiz.

Ideal for the beginner learner of Yiddish.

Amazing

I used this to teach my grandma to write Yiddish very good app 10/10

I wish I could recommend this

It teaches you to identify the names of the letters but I’m doubtful it would help you read or write. The quiz should be to hear the sound and write the letter. That would be doable with the technology already in the app. Some apps will match your spoken words to a native audio file which requires machine learning, so I understand this app would most likely not have access to that technology. However, they could provide words for you to try and read, and then play the word read correctly for you to check yourself against. Another possibility would be to provide phonetic readings of words like Sesame Street (“c,” “at” — “cat” etc).

That being said, this is the best Yiddish app I’ve tried so far! It’s sad and disappointing but not unexpected that resources to learn Yiddish are so few.
