DISCOVER FEATURES THAT WILL IMPROVE YOUR LEARNING

All books come not just with Latin audio but also with additional help. Depending on the book, different features are available, such as:

· English translations or interlinear translations

· Built-in dictionaries with English definitions

· Grammatical notes

· Commentaries

· Macrons for all texts

LEARN WITH STORIES: EXCLUSIVE LEGENTIBUS-ORIGINALS

Our illustrated Beginner Stories are written with a unique vocabulary count of 100 to 200 words with additional features:

· Audio

· Translation

· Commentary

They are grounded in history or literature – in classical myths, fables, medieval stories, or historical events, e.g.:

· The Knight and the Magician (medieval)

· Phrixus and Helle (classical)

· Orpheus and Eurydice (classical)

· The Strange Death of Milo (classical)

· The Statue and the Treasure (medieval)

That way, you will learn more than the language itself. We go to great lengths to ensure that the vocabulary and syntax are attested in Roman literature.

We believe that stories are vital for learning Latin efficiently while simultaneously having a good time, which enhances your learning.

WHO IS THIS LANGUAGE APP FOR?

With an easy-to-use interface, learning is natural and stress-free. In addition, a curated library with a reading plan facilitates long-term success.

WHY IS LEGENTIBUS DIFFERENT?

It is essential to experience Latin as a language: a medium for communicating something, be it philosophy, history, or a simple story. The only way to achieve true reading fluency in Latin is to listen and read as much Latin as possible from the start.

BEYOND TRADITIONAL APPS

Legentibus stands distinct. While other apps may focus on isolated memorization, we emphasize deep immersion and understanding.

We made this app to help Latin learners set and achieve their goals, no matter how varied they might be.

Useful for a wide variety of Latin readers!

I have known Daniel Pettersson for a number of years and have seen him demonstrate that he is a remarkably skilled scholar, reader, and speaker of Latin by any yardstick you choose. His Legentibus platform combines both the traditional tools that have been available online to the Latin student reader for some time (i.e. linked glossaries for each word and explanatory notes) with a high-quality audio transcript or performance of the text, read clearly and expressively but avoiding melodrama. A specialist might quarrel with some details of Daniel’s pronunciation, but the bottom line is that Daniel’s viva voce performance presents vowel quantities consistently and in a believable way.

Scholars agree that Romain texts were written to be heard rather than read silently. Daniel has provided us and those we teach with a convincing and engaging text performance to hear and read at the same time. Other than participating in a Latin immersion workshop with highly skilled presenters, I can think of no better way to improve one’s sense of authentic Latin usage than to spend time every day with Daniel’s text performances.

Mehercule, hanc applicātiōnem amō.

Legentibus is not only my go-to Latin app, but it’s also my favorite language-learning app in general! It does one thing, and it does it very well.

The beginner stories are a fantastic resource for varied comprehensible input all in one place, and there’s plenty of intermediate content to keep someone busy for a long time as well.

The best part about it: as a busy person and mere hobbyist progressing at a slow pace, I no longer have any excuses for not reading at least a little bit every day; so even if I’ve had a day whereby I didn’t make any time to study at all (and I have more of those than not, unfortunately), I can still keep the candle lit by quietly (re-)reading a quick story before bed, and calling that a win.

Excellent!

I don’t think there is a better resource for learning Latin in the App Store or off of it. Lots of material for the beginner to the advanced student alike. I really like how you can follow along with the narrator while reading books. Very handy to have all the material in this app on your phone so you can access it anywhere at anytime. I use it daily on my breaks at work which allows extra time to study. I listen to it while I drive also. Excellent for allowing you to immerse yourself in the language. It has quickly become indispensable in my Latin studies. If you’re interested in learning Latin, don’t pass this app up. It is a must have.

Keep up the good work and job well done!
