Letter Lab is the ideal application for children learning to write and recognize their ABC’s. Intuitively trace both uppercase and lowercase letters with the touch of a finger. Hear and see English alphabet letters and real world objects that relate to them.
Crafted specifically for Apple’s revolutionary new iPad, Letter Lab is as natural to use as it is beautiful. Each page of the Letter Lab notebook contains and uppercase and lowercase letter pair, a gorgeous illustration of an object to accompany each letter and a warm voiceover that reinforces letter learning by adding an audio component to each letter and object.
Trace letters simply by moving a finger or stylus over the letter outlines on screen. Switch tracing colors by touching one of the crayons. To erase, touch the eraser or shake the iPad. Change letters by touching the desired letter in the tab area on the side of the notebook or by scrolling the letters within the tab area. Touch the illustrations at the top of each page to hear the name of an object or letter.
Preferences for Letter Lab are available in the Settings application on the iPad. Preferences allow parents to enable or disable any and all sound effects.

Ratings and Reviews
App is easy to use however the audio isn't working. In the settings there is no way to turn on the audio. Please fix then I will rate 5 stars.
I do no recommend this app! It malfunctions constantly. I bought it to use as a tool to begin teaching my pre-K kids how to write their names. But after a few uses it will stop allowing you to select certain letters, such as J. You can try 1000 times, exit the app, try again and still when you select J it will give you another letter. In addition, after it starts malfunctioning it will occasionally refuse to close. Big disappointment. If you decide to buy... beware! My copy is going in the trash can.
Boring for kids. Far better products out there.
As a teacher, I would suggest finding other apps that provide better interactivity than this. It's far too dull and limited for small children, and it doesn't teach kids the proper pen strokes either.
I'd suggest to the developer that he incorporates:
- an award system via auditory feedback and some graphics
- emphasize proper pen strokes
- put some interactivity into this. I've used several of these type apps, and this is the most boring by a longshot!
- have an undo feature. Most kids will like to erase the last letter they made a mistake on; not the ENTIRE page like the current erase button.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
