What’s New

Version 7.2

Our version 7.0 mobile app has a brand new look and feel! You'll still get all the up-to-the-minute breaking news, accurate weather, and in-depth investigations from the station you know and trust, but in a new package.

We've spent months talking with readers and viewers like you to understand what's most important. This new mobile app is a direct result of your feedback, so thank you! Our new design brings a bold, fresh focus to the biggest news of the day.

Readers told us that being able to choose how they read the news is a top priority.

A new menu at the top of the Home screen gives you more control over how you read the news in our app.

Choose "Top News" to read news stories curated by our local news team as the most important news of the day or choose "Most Recent" to read news stories published most recently.

In the new "Watch" tab, our news is streaming any time you want to watch.

Whether it's our 24/7 streaming channel, or video on demand clips, you're in control over what you want to watch, and when you want to watch it.

Making sure the app reflects your preference on how you use your device was also important to you, whether your device is in Light Mode or Dark Mode. Our new app honors that system preference and gives you the choice to use the app in Light Mode or Dark Mode.

We’re excited to see the new mobile app in action and hope you are too. Let's keep the conversation going. Have feedback on the new design? Let us know in the app by going to Tools > Contact Support.

Current weather forecast and video

I wish this app would be current with the written forecast AND the video forecast updating. When you click on the weather tab, you still get Bill Meck’s forecast from the night before, rather than Tom’s more current forecast. Same thing on the weekends, with Jill. So I search on Facebook for their pages to get the up to date forecast, text and video. Other networks in Lexington can get this right. Why not Lex 18?

The app this replaced was much better and to add insult to injury they now ask you to subscribe, if you wish to eliminate the advertising. LEX18 has been my go to news source for a long time because their app was superior to both 27 and 36. This “upgrade” puts them on par with the others. If they must ask for subscriptions, fine, but they should do it on the previous app. This was a move in the wrong direction.

Pauses audio when opened.

Opening the app pauses any audio currently playing. I’m uninstalling but will follow the release notes for updates to see when usability is improved.
