Hoping into the critisicm

I have an LG UHD Ultra Fine 4K monitor that I really wanted to use for my MacBook air to have a bigger screen. I stumbled upon that monitor and it has quite a few functions which is awesome! I have my Mac, a Wii, and a PS3 all connect at once and just need to switch inputs to change. The USB-C connection charges my computer as well so I can have the lid closed and use a USB-ethernet on the back of the monitor for better internet. Only one cord into my mac, which is just dandy. However, when I was messing around trying to find the ways to maximize the use of the screen I stumble upon probably the dumbest app ever to exist. All it does is open the displays page in settings. Any other button in the app that you should be able to click on, doesn't work. I was excited at first because I figured this app would make it possible for me to change volume and displays settings through the mac. But you can't, you have to use the poorly designed one button on the bottom of the monitor. I don't use this button often, but it is annoying that I can't just use the brightness button on my keyboard to bring the brightness of the monitor down considering the monitor is just suposed to be displaying the mac exactly how it would look if I was just looking at the mac!!! same thing with volume. Both are just locked to maximum and changing either is through the one button on the bottom. Pretty disappointed.

I hate my LG Ultrafine 5k and this app

I foolishly shelled out several thousand dollars for a new LG Ultrafine 5k back in 2017 when I started my new job. At first, it seemed great. 5k! But then I started noticing the problems. My Mac would kernel panic when being plugged in or disconnected. Putting the Mac too close to the display would prevent wifi from working. USB devices plugged into it mysteriously stop working.

I thought the app might help. The app appears to do absolutely nothing. One of the buttons "helpfully" opens the Displays control panel for you.

I am now on an M1 Air and I still have all the same problems with the display I had with my previous Intel MacBook Pro. Plus another one: the webcam video is bizarrely laggy. Which is a huge shame because the quality of the webcam was quite good. So now I have a Logitech strapped to the display, covering up the old camera. In any case, it's clear that the issue is the display or the software or both.

I am also angry at Apple. I bought this display directly from the Apple Store, as at the time, it was the one and only display they offered. It was the one time where I thought I had enough money to buy into the "just works" cult. Well, it just doesn't work.

Correctly updated my LG 21.5" UltraFine firmware, works with M2 studio now

My LG 21.5" UltraFine monitor, 22MD4KA/B, was not waking from sleep when connected to my M2 Mac Studio. I would have to unplug the cable and plug it back in to get it to work. I downloaded this app and it detected that my monitor needed a firmware update. It downloaded the update (took maybe 5 minutes) and applied it. Now my monitor wakes from sleep every time.

The software does not appear to be good for anything else. It has an Adjust Resolution button that just takes you to the macOS Settings app. Other reviewers complain about their LG monitors not having brightness or volume control. For that, I use a program called Lunar, not available on the App Store, which works great.
