Library Inspector is a simple tool for inspecting the contents of compiled object code, archives, dynamic libraries (dylib), frameworks and applications. There are two main components, the Library Inspector application, and the Library Inspector Quick Look plugin.

- Quickly display local and exported symbols using colors to visually represent the type of symbol.
- Flexible filtering search for symbol name and type.
- Library-specific icons generated using Quick Look including the architectures included in the library.

Primarily useful for as a *.o file viewer (also, the developer is responsive to user requests)

I gave the previous version 5 stars (I wrote that I've always wanted an app that made *.o files human-readable), but I just wanted to update my review to report a positive experience with contacting the developer. I wrote him suggesting the feature that was added in the current update, and he got back to me within a couple hours asking for further clarification. A few weeks later this update showed up on the App Store, which has made me very happy. Overall it was a very positive experience, and I'd buy a second copy of this application if I could to reward the developer for it.

I'm always happy to listen to feedback from my customers, thanks for taking the time to think about how it could be improved.

Simple, Quick and Extremely Useful

This obviously is not trying to compete with the large feature sets of other disassemblers, but for quickly inspecting an executable this tool has been my goto for years. And the included QuickLook plugin makes this even easier. Glad to see it's still getting updates and developer attention after all this time.

Thanks so much for your kind feedback. It's nice to hear that you find it useful. Yes, I still give it attention from time to time - internally, it got a complete overhaul, and I wrote my own symbol table parser/loader. It was exciting :)

Greate for disabling .a files

Need to figure out if the static binary of the a library had all of the symboles I needed from a 3rd party developer. This bad boy did the trick and help track down some problems we where having with missing symbols.

Great app, thanks!

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback. I originally made this app because I was having issues with vendor supplied libraries with different sets of exported symbols. I guess I went a bit overboard :), but I'm glad it also helped you too.
