Used to be good - Getting worse
I have used this app for a few years and it used to be really good. Lately, it will stop tracking someone and then pick them up and then stop and then nothing - it literally shows the person stopped, even when they aren’t, which can be scary for a parent watching their kid go from 65 mph on a freeway to a dead stop when there is no traffic. If you are lucky, they will pop up miles down the road again, but not always. Even if the person is in a bad area for reception, as soon as they come back “online” they sometimes never show up. They just get stuck in one spot on the map and turning the app off does not help get them unstuck so you can’t locate someone. The app also no longer keeps track of every trip someone has done with the times and either loses or misses some and displays others. It is almost like the trips have been truncated. Traffic reports are also often extremely inaccurate (especially in Santa Barbara) and if my husband and I both have the app working we get different arrival times for the same route, different traffic reports, and different hazards. Waze used to offer great alternative routes. Now, you either get no options when there are clearly some that are better than sitting in traffic or the option they give you is worse than the original route. It’s just gone downhill. They should add a report for moving police officers with direction of travel.
I travel a lot for work by myself. My husband and I use the app to ensure we both are safe, whether it’s me doing my morning run or bike ride or staying at hotels alone while I travel or just either of us driving, this app puts my mind at ease. I rarely check it, but if it seems weird to one of us that the either isn’t home like planned, we simply can check the app to see if we were just held over at work or something to make ourselves feel better. We don’t have it to control each other, like I said, we rarely check it. But the crash detection is so nice. I was in an accident with a friend and I was hurt. The app helped to show the speed and the exact location the accident occurred, which we forgot because we were so in the moment with our hurt bodies and seeing if the other driver was okay. It notified my husband I was in an accident which was great because he then called, which I had forgotten to do because it was so crazy, to see if I was okay. This app is amazing and when I travel, I mark my hotel as a poi to let my husband know I’ve arrived safely. I of course call him after I’ve settled, but when someone drives for hours and in other states and unfamiliar territory, this app deletes all those negative feelings towards the “what ifs” if I were alone and didn’t have this. If you don’t have a significant other, you can always connect the app with a friend or just have them as the emergency contact to be alerted. So so many great features on this app.
Keep the CEO.
I find it so stupid that parents desire to control their children so much. Most parents now were not tracked by life360 and are alive and well now. Why should you have to track your kids? For what? Were you tracked when you were 15? I highly doubt there was any tracking apps back in the day. Parents should establish trust, if that trust is broken then okay, find ways to discipline and raise a child correctly, because yes it is possible to do without tracking them 24/7. Half-ass trust doesn’t exist. This CEO is listening to these kids complaints about strict and drowning parents who make them feel controlled, the ceo is helping and listening to your kids which is what most of you lack nowadays. If parents weren’t so controlling, teens wouldn’t have to go behind their back, if they trusted you and felt comfortable, Most of them would tell you and feel a connection and a level of trust rather than a controlling relationship. For those that have Life360 to make sure their child is safe, why not have an alternative like them sharing it with their close & trusted friends who you can call and ask them to check your child’s location if something were to happen. There is a thousand ways you can make sure your child is safe, tracking 24/7 shouldn’t be one of them. If you feel threatened by the “Ghost Mode” update, you are a controlling parent and doing more harm to you and your child’s relationship rather than building it.
