Description

Light Awake uses pulsating light to gently rouse you from sleep. There are no sharp, piercing noises that startle you awake. Its flashing light is designed to stimulate your circadian system and comfortably move your mind from slumber to consciousness. This is the only wake-up system that is based on the physiology of our eyes and brain.

Currently compatible with iOS devices, this patented technology is especially helpful for:
∙ Shift workers
∙ People with hearing loss
∙ Sleep partners with different schedules
∙ Families with light sleepers or small children
∙ Teenagers and college students
∙ Roommates in close quarters

Light Awake is based on how the brain responds to light. Our body produces melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep, based on how much light it senses. It’s the same biological response that wakes up animals that are active during the day. Birds and dogs don’t need a piercing alarm and neither do humans! ***Note: Light Awake is a different kind of alarm clock***

To ensure proper alarm clock function, after you set your alarm, the screen will dim and go into sleep mode. It is important, if you use another app after you set your alarm, you disable/reset the alarm to ensure the sleep mode is initiated and the alarm goes off properly.

One job…

The main job is for the alarm to go off. Hey m not missing something, am I?

As it turns out…. it didn’t. Go off that is.

And the reason (below) indicates that it’s a design issue.

When I woke up (1h 45m after I was supposed to), I saw an alert on my phone: ‘your carrier service has an update. Want to do it, yes or no?’

I dismissed the notification and then my alarm blared to life. An hour and 45 minutes late. Nice.

The app itself is really easy to use and set/activate.

And per the app’s instructions, after setting the wake up time, I didn’t touch my phone.

The fact that a random notification like that caused the alarm to delay sound more like it’s still in beta, not ready for public consumption. And maybe so, that’s fine.

Perhaps when the basic bugs get worked out, it’ll be good. It was a good idea…

Nice features

I like the choices of light and sound to wake up as well as the gentle but increasing intensity. Lots to choose from. A regular alarm gets familiar and I ignore but I can change it up regularly.
