Lightdogs: Unplug & Focus 4+

I have been using this app for a couple of days and I really enjoy the UI/UX, I think overall the concept is really great and works well. I was frustrated today however when I was almost at the end of a 3hr timer (like 4000 Jules accumulated) and my phone had a low power mode pop up. There was about a minute left on the timer and a dismissed the low power pop up when Lightdogs informed me that by doing this I had forfeited my timer. This is frustrating. Low power is not me being distracted my my phone. I don’t know if this is a bug or just a feature of the app, but it was expressly annoying.

Really sorry to hear about your failed session, that does sound very frustrating. This is a bug and not part of the design. We'll be working on fixing this, but in the meantime if you lock your phone during sessions it should stop it from happening. Just make sure to turn on notifications so you'll get notified when your session completes! Thanks for your patience. i’m gonna be completely honest, at first i wasn’t going to download this app, and the only thing that got me to was the dogs. but i got this as an ad for my instagram, which i use way too often, so why not! i like it, but my only grievance with it is that i need to have my phone on for it. that kinda kills my phone battery which is one of the reasons i want to reduce screen time anyways. so if there would be a way for this app to function where if i close the app but don’t use any other apps and i still can get joules, that would give this app 5 stars. other than that, i’m loving the app so far!

Edit: it turns out i was using it wrong! i have a habit of turning off my phone by keeping them open but just going to home screen, oops, haha. while there is still a glitch with your phone turned off, as long as you have notifications you’ll be able to tell when the glitch is happening! five stars, can’t wait for more :)

Thanks for the kind words! You should actually be able to lock your phone during gen sessions. If locking your phone is causing your sessions to fail, please send me an email at cam@lightdogs.xyz and we'll get to the bottom of it!

I wanted so badly to give this app 5 stars. The idea is genius, the implementation is cute, and I love the app. However, on my iPhone 6, the Generate sessions fail for often than not, and when I reported the bug, I was told, and I now quote the email...

“Sorry to hear about this issue. It’s a bug that seems to happen on iPhone 6’s. Unfortunately, our team has started working on a new app and are no longer supporting Lightdogs, so the bug is unlikely to be fixed. One way to avoid the frustration though is to turn on notifications if you haven’t already. When the app mistakenly thinks you’ve left (rather than just locked it), it should send you a notification warning you that your session will fail. Then you can unlock and relock before the session fails. Sorry for the frustration. I hope Lightdogs is useful for you regardless!”

So if I got this right: they’ll sell the app, but not fix a known bug. Nice.

The app is free and doesn't have any ads, we're not making any money from it. We built Lightdogs to help people make the most of their time and avoid being distracted, so when we started working on a different project we decided to leave it up so it could keep helping people. However, since we're a small team, we can't afford to maintain Lightdogs while also developing the new project. Hope you understand!
