LINE 4+

Overall this app is...fine. I wish they'd just let me use the iPad version on the M1 Mac instead, since that one is better. There are a few key issues that really hold back my rating:

1. macOS text replacement features don't work
I have a lot of text replacement shortcuts set up to allow me to quickly type emoji and other special characters, and all of those don't work on LINE desktop. It's really annoying to not be able to use them here. (They work fine on the iOS LINE versions, and in every other macOS app -- just not macOS LINE.)

2. Emoji rendering is often glitchy
Oddly, certain multipart unicode characters (such as the skin tone modifiers and gender modifiers) don't actually render properly, resulting in random colored blocks or gender symbols littered through the chat

2a. Text rendering is often glitchy
A subset of the first one, but character spacing is often a bit off. In particular, spaces following commas often seem to visually disappear.

3. Chat export function doesn't export the whole chat history
On the iOS version, exporting the chat history exports the entire chat history. On the macOS version, it exports only what is visible and nothing else.

I'd really like it if they fixed these problems (or better yet, just allowed the iPad version to install on M1 Macs)

I haven't had any of the problems with video calls that some reviewers are reporting. Even group calls work fine for me.
Contrary to, say, Skype, LINE properly syncs chats across devices, so I have no problem regarding this either.
I don't use voice for anything on any of my devices, and definitely not on my computer, so limitations of this interface don't affect me directly, but I have noticed that some of my interlocutors sometimes with strange chat lines that they couldn't possibly have typed.
I saw one review lamenting the lack of spell checking on this mac OS version. Well, at least, unlike the iOS version, the macOs version won't try to sanitize my chats :-)
I took one star off because the UI is somewhat dated and because the sticker suggestions sometimes take a loooong time to pop up, and sometimes don't show up at all.

I've used LINE on my phone and on my computer for years. While the mobile app has stayed solid, the one of my mac has had issues logging me in for the past few months. I've redownloaded it and was able to log in smoothly...for about a week before the same issue occured again. Hopefully there's an update or something that can fix this.
