Description

A brand new life for classic Lines!

Classic Lines is the great-grand-daddy of recent match-3 games such as Bejeweled. Alice Dev Team’s version is based on “Lines for DOS”, the very first match-5 game ever made, way back in 1993. Even though it has oldschool-style game-play and is nearly 20 years old, Lines is still tons of fun. A top puzzle game that will keep grownups and kids busy with hours of pleasure.

We play it ourselves, and think you should too!

The rules are simple: Line up four or five balls of the same colour to make them vanish. If you get stuck, just use the “Hint” button to get a suggestion on the best move to make. Our Lines even has two game-play modes, which you can switch on the fly: Normal (match-4) and Classic (match-5).

Features:
•A first for match-4 and match-5 games; hints.
•Two game-play modes, which you can switch while playing.
•Normal (match-4) mode will provide real fun for match game lovers of any skill level!
•Classic (match-5) mode for match game buffs, and those who enjoy competition logic games like chess.
•Cheat mode; if you right-click the mouse, the built-in AI will play the next ball for you. Repeatedly right-clicking the mouse turns the game into a cool morale booster and relaxant. We’ve tried it!

Relaxing time waster - like the sounds

So far I've just been playing in easy mode (line up 4 balls to get them to explode) - switching to the 5-ball mode should make it more challenging. At the 4-ball setting it's too easy to just keep going. But I love the sound as the balls explode - like a set of 4th of July fireworks. There's no way to end up clearing the board, so on the easy setting it's basically endless. On easy mode I would normally give it only 2 stars, but the sounds keep me going. In 5-ball mode I suspect it will be much more interesting and potentially worth 4 stars in its own right. The nature of the challenge never really changes, however; for a game that keeps throwing totally new kinds of things at you, try A Monster Ate My Homework.

PS: Follow-up. I tried the other mode (where you need to get five balls in a row for them to explode and disappear). Much more difficult and challenging. 3 stars for the game + 1 extra star for the sound effects!
