Fun! Effective! And Affordable!!

This app is truly something special! It’s based on the evidence-based NOW! Foundations for Speech, Language, Reading & Spelling program that has been proven in multiple federally funded research studies to improve language skills by grade levels in mere months!! I am so excited the very program that helped me overcome my dyslexia has now been turned into an app for children to build or boost their skills before they begin to struggle in school like I did!

Cute and fun way to learn

The graphics are adorable and the app offers an excellent way for kids to learn through repetition while connecting how a sound looks and sounds.

Wish it was more fun

My 4yo has a lot of early indicators of dyslexia and is diagnosed with a phonological processing disorder. I was hoping this could be a fun way to learn sounds, as he thinks the “s” and “f” sound are too similar and the “b” and “p” sound. But he said the exercises were too long and became bored very quickly. And honestly, same. I get why. Reinforcing of learning. But his attention span isn’t great. I’m gonna try again, we shall see.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review and detailed input. We are currently working to bring even more rewarding sounds, animations and visible progress indicators to the next version of the LipLetter Land app. You are 100% correct that we designed this app to help children better hear, see, feel with their mouth, and learn to mastery their sounds and lastly their letters, sounds and letter names too.

For children known to struggle with sounds or letters or both, and for younger children who are 3 & 4 years old, we find that if a parent or young adult will play LipLetter Land together with the child, then that can boost the child’s attention, engagement, motivation and joy in mastering more and more sounds, movies, letters and fun names, like Tongue Tapper or Skinny Air.

Yes, a certain amount of practice and review is necessary to help the brain make new connections. Also, 1-on-1 time with mom, dad, grandma or any family member or other person playing LipLetter Land with the child can really boost their learning too. When children see parents making the sounds with the app or live mimicking the app’s Mouth Movies with the child too, then the child’s attention, motivation and engagement can be enhanced. A child seeing an adult’s or family members’ mouth moving big and with joy can help make what is harder for the child to be easier and fun too.

We hope you will try spending a few 10 minute play sessions for 3-5 days per week for at least 3-6 weeks with your son and the LipLetter Land app. Parents have reported that some 1-on-1 time with their child & the app, for only several weeks, was all they needed to do to help empower their child’s successful mastery of sounds, mouth movies and letters. The combination of 1-on-1 time together and success with the app can help excite children about learning more sounds, movies and letters.

Be sure to have your son take a turn teaching you about any of the sounds, movies or letters he is learning too. Children commonly love getting to be the “teacher” and helping you figure out if your tongue is tapping or scraping when you say the sound /k/.

Please do let us know how these suggestions help empower your child. We are coding, testing and debugging the next upgrade as quickly as possible too and hope to earn your updated 4 or 5 star rating very soon.

Feel free to email us for more information or helpful ideas - we all know how important it is for children to master all of the sounds, letters, mouth movies and much more, because literacy is “life changing” at any age.
