Ratings and Reviews
From Instagram to Litsy
I am a bookstagrammer and I've seen so many other bookstagrammers go to Litsy and I think it's really interesting and I really want to try it. I love that it really is combining goodreads and instagram. I love the concept of it.
Some things that I don't like are the layout of it is a little confusing and that may just be because I haven't used it and I'm new to it but it was a little overwhelming. I do like the point system it's pretty cool but I don't know what exactly it's for.
Things that I would like to see added or changed. (These things may be on here. Again I'm new and not completely sure how they work) A better introduction of how the app works maybe going through how to make posts and what all of the things mean. I would also love to add more shelves rather than just the three: have read, to read, want to read. And also the rating system. I would love to see others on a scale of how much they enjoyed it, because there's a wide range of if you liked it pick it up or if you loved it and you need to pick it up. I'm not sure if that completely made sense but I think a different scoring system would be better.
I honestly can't wait to get more used to this app and it has so much potential! I can't wait to see what you guys do with it. Please don't use the algorithm though because that's the main reason bookstagrammers moved to this platform!!
Like it a lot so far...
I’ve just started using Litsy, but I like it a lot so far. It’s visually appealing and pretty intuitive to use, so I was able to use it without any tutorial. I’ve enjoyed it and interacting with the Litsy community. I’ve been able to make a recommendation for a newly released book and also have appreciated the multiple views about new books I was considering purchasing. It’s so nice to have more input than just the book jacket!
There really do need to be varied levels of recommendation, however. This is the reason I cannot give Litsy 5 stars. For instance, if you really love thrillers, you may be unwilling to say a thriller is “so-so” even though the plot is a bit derivative and none of the characters are very well developed. If it’s a great page-turner by your favorite author, you’ll still recommend it, but it certainly won’t please a classical literary fiction enthusiast. So, there should be at least one all-out blockbuster recommendation and also a “recommended with reservations” option.
Otherwise, it seems like the friendly Litsy community has found ways to welcome newcomers and overcome the awkwardness of a new App by just being themselves.
I have Litsy for a couple of months now and overall I do enjoy it, the community is absolutely amazing. It’s such a warm and positive place and I love that most about it.
The only thing I would love to see added is an explore page (similar to IG) instead of having to search specific tags, books, or authors to see what others are posting. Seeing as how tags aren’t a huge part of litsy, an explore page where you can see what others have posted would be amazing, and it would make it a little easier to find others on a whim and not just through a specific search. The search can stay but add an already predetermined explore posting page would be awesome.
