Love the Litter Robit, App lumps along
After numerous attempts to get the app to finally connect correctly, the notifications to my phone stopped after 4 days. I have to open the app a lot to see if if it is working. But Yesterday it said it had not cycled. I got home and the bin said it was full but the chamber did not complete it’s last cycle. I opened the drawer and it was a case of ‘clumps’ depositing in one spot the last 10 hours, the bag was replaced the day before, so there was plenty of room still available for deposit’. I knew it was cycling or there would be no ‘poo’ in the bin.
No obstructions, but it is possible a cat may have interrupted the cycle so I tested the triggers last night, no notifications.
I don’t want to have to uninstall and reinstall app every few days just to get notifications. I have two senior cats, the potty monitoring is very important to me (that’s sounds weird typing it....) seriously, this robot was more than my iPhone, can’t another way of monitoring be developed as backup like Apple HomeKit? It’s weird I have to manually reset the bin indicator too, if it detects it (when it works) it should be able to reset when empty too?

Thank you for the feedback. There was an error in our notification system (not the app) and it was fixed mid-day Friday (24th). They should be working again. If this is not the case, please let me know.
The full indicator works off a laser sensor. If there's a clump covering the sensor, it will say it's full. A lot of customers will pull the drawer out and give it a shake to even the clumps out and put the drawer back in for a few more days. In these cases, the drawer hasn't really been emptied so you wouldn't want the unit or app assuming it was. This will cause inaccurate readings. Since the Litter-Robot is weight-based, any changes that effect weight require a reset. Any time you add/remove litter from the globe, empty the drawer, move unit, etc., you should reset the unit by quickly tapping the Reset button once before walking away. This updates the weight sensors and circuit board.
Since the Reset button on the unit itself is used for many different things (like adding litter or moving it), the app does not automatically reset the waste gauge. If it did, it would cause a lot of inaccuracy in reporting. If you empty the drawer, resetting the unit takes one second to tap Reset then you can open the app to reset the waste gauge. The gauge uses an algorithm so it gets more accurate over time as long as it's being reset properly.

App has many issues making it quite useless
Update-I am upgrading the rating as the app seems to work better now. After resetting the router it seems that it took care of the issue, also bought a Wi-Fi extender but haven’t tried that yet. The basket full problem seems to be caused by the weight of the litter we were using, I used less litter to fix this an I am switching litter and see if it improves more.
We set up the litter robot with no issue, it was working great for 1 day and then it reported the basket was full, and we got only 1 cat. I went and emptied the basket and then reset the gauge but the app kept saying cat sensor timing forever even the litter robot is showing ready. I reinstalled the app and it’s still the same.
After calling support they said to unplug the unit and replug which fixed the problem. However since then it seems to just go offline everyday after a cycle or two and you can’t reconnect using the app, it requires to physically unplug to fix it. The app is practically useless since you don’t get updated status after it goes offline. No way to know if the tray got full or how often the cat used the litter box, and we are away most of the day.

We're sorry to hear you're having these issues with the app. If the unit goes offline frequently, it's typically related to a weaker WiFi signal strength. If you contact Customer Service, they can pull up your account to check what your signal strength is. In most cases, the unit should go back online on it's own once the signal is better and without you needing to unplug/replug. Also, just as a tip, when you empty the drawer and put a new liner, make sure to press Reset on the unit itself before resetting the waste gauge in the app. This will ensure the app updates the gauge properly.
Notifications for one
I think this app is pretty great - in fact as a developer myself, I show it to others as an example of a simple but actually useful IoT device supplement app.
The one frustrating thing about this app is the notifications. First, even though my wife and I both have the app and are logged in and have notifications on, I’m the only one who gets notifications for the box being full. This means I’m also almost always the one cleaning it (though it is so much more civilized than a regular cat box, of course!). It would be great if the developer could figure out a way to notify all phones, or even better, offer a first-class way to register multiple accounts to the same box to support people in a household taking turns. It would also be fun to support a way to “earn yarn balls” or something like that to gamify changing the box. Lots of opportunity here.
The second frustrating thing about the notifications is that they seem to fire only once or maybe twice when the box gets full. It would be good to opt-in to a way to not stop the notifications and keep them going. The situation will only continue to get worse.

Hi there! Thank you for the feedback! We really appreciate it. Regarding the notifications, try turning the notifications off, uninstalling/reinstalling the app and re-enabling the notifications. Also, check in your phone's notification settings then making sure Litter-Robot's notifications are enabled there as well. If you have any other suggestions or feedback, please let us know at email@example.com.
