Note: Livescribe+ is designed to be used with the Aegir and Livescribe 3 smartpens from Livescribe.

Livescribe+ pairs with your Livescribe 3 or Aegir smartpen to instantly sync everything you write on paper directly onto your iPhone or iPad. Your notes become more useful, more quickly when they’re organized, tagged, searchable, and converted to text.
Notes, sketches, diagrams and drawings created with your Livescribe 3 or Aegir smartpen show up instantly in Livescribe+.

Access your notes in 3 different views to get more out of them: (1) Page View shows your notebooks and pages exactly as they were written. (2) Feed View organizes your notes into smaller, actionable snippets sorted in a timeline. (3) Pencast View allows you to play back audio recordings synced to your notes so you can hear what was said exactly when you were writing.

Convert your handwritten notes into text to transform them into tasks, reminders, calendar events, new contacts and more. Import shared pages or snippets into Adobe Illustrator or any other vector drawing app, and work directly with your own hand-drawn artwork. Paper-to-vector path is an industry first!

Create pencasts and add photos and typed memos directly in Livescribe+ to add more depth and context to your written notes. Save your pencasts as video and play them back anywhere, or use iMovie or any other video editor to easily create great lectures and presentations.

Tag your notes in Feed view to create Collections that sort all your tagged content together.

Share PDFs of your notes, pictures and pencasts through Mail, Messages, AirDrop, Evernote, OneNote, Dropbox, and more.

Too Buggy to Earn the Awesome it should be

I am on my 4th LiveScribe device. I had a Pulse, then an Echo, then the Sky, and now the oddly named 3 (because its the fourth device). In any case, I love the Evernote integration, and the Bluetooth sync, and the appreciable battery life. I have a few hardware and software issues. My pen arrived with a crack in it. I never bothered to swap it out, but I thought that was sort of bush league. The software for some reason, all of my notes sync to Evernote as if they are occurring on the correct date and time ... in the year 2020. There are no settings that can help me change this, and no response from Support on their FaceBook page. Finally, the application crashes. Frequently. Meaning, you open the app, and it acquires the pen and starts syncing, and then just closes. For no reason. This shut down behavior has increased in frequency over the past few months and updates. I have only 4 notebooks synced, and I have plenty of free memory on my iPad. Not sure why this would occur, but Syncing is why I purchased the $250 pen in the first place, so the flakiness there is alarming to say the least. Starting to make me wonder if the company is slowly withdrawing resources and support for their products.

Export Needs Work

I’m currently on my second Livescribe pen, as I bought an Echo at the beginning of college, let it sit for a few years while I was in a break from school, and the display died. I picked up a 3 for this year now that I’m back full time, and the app has recorded my lectures marvelously for 1.25 semesters so far. Crashing has been minimal, and emailing friends notes when they miss class is quick, easy, and effective.

A big draw of the pen is being able to send the notes to OneNote or Evernote and I was looking forward to making a “Master File” for each class with PowerPoints, handouts, and my own notes and lecture transcriptions as a convenient, lightweight backup copy on my iPad, and a study tool to share with and collaborate on with classmates. I’ve tried both OneNote and Evernote, and the data won’t send. My app software and pen firmware are allegedly up to date so I’m not sure what’s wrong, but it’s not the ideal situation.
