Loud and Clear is an affordable and accessible voice app for people with Parkinson’s Disease to strengthen their voice and restore quality of life through improved communication.

Mission Statement

Loud and Clear improves a user’s quality of life by guiding him/her through a vocal exercise program designed to regain the volume and natural melody of speech to increase intelligibility and restore communication.

What is the program?

The program occurs over a four-week period in roughly 15 to 20-minute sessions designed to help the user recalibrate his/her voice. The program utilizes the microphone of a phone or tablet and provides real-time biofeedback of a user’s voice. The first half of the session contains animated modeling that leads the user through vocal warm-up exercises practicing increased volume, pitch modulation, and volume modulation. The second half of the program moves the user into more functional, everyday speech practice with their recalibrated voice. Although the first portion will be the same every time a user logs in, the second portion includes varying exercises and levels of difficulty to keep the process lively and engaging. After the initial four-week training, the user is then encouraged to check back in regularly for maintenance of their recalibrated voice.
