Recorder
Lyric's newest feature is a built-in recorder. Record yourself performing and attach it to any part of your lyrics. This is a powerful tool which allows users to keep track of their melody and never gets confused which recording goes with which verse.

Rhyme matching
Lyric automatically checks your lyrics for rhymes. Whenever you finish typing, rhyming words with automatically be color-coded. You also have options like increasing rhyme sensitivity to include near rhymes and only matching words at the end of the line.

Syllable Counter
The syllable counter keeps track of the syllables in each line of your lyric. The syllable count is displayed to the left side of the screen. In measure mode, you also have a syllable counter for each quarter measure so that you can try to break your lyrics up evenly or create a unique syllable pattern.

Measure Mode
Measure mode allows you to break your lyric into quarter measures. This is helpful for lyric recitation. This mode also syncs with the metronome. The metronome will move along the quarter measures at your specified BPM (beats per minute) helping you to keep track when practicing your lyrics.

Word Lookup
Lyric also allows you to look up new words. Find rhymes and near rhymes for words you have already used or search for a synonym or definition for a word that just isn't quite right. After searching for a word your results are presented in a movable tab. This way you can work on your lyrics and see your search results simultaneously.

Metronome
The metronome allows you to specify the BPMs and syncs with both the background of the application and the quarter measures (if in measure mode). This allows you to use the metronome either as an audio or visual reference.

Notes
Lyric also has a built-in notepad, which appears on the screen as a movable tab. This allows you to keep track of anything related to your lyrics without having to clutter your lyric itself. This helps keep the experience nice and clean.

Great But ...

I have been loving this app. Everything needed to build my songs all in one place. The greatest app I’ve ever had.

Unfortunately, twice now I have had songs which suddenly wouldn’t stay open anymore. I’m working fine on lyrics and suddenly it throws me out of the app. When I go back in, I can open and edit any file except the one that shut down; as though the file is somehow corrupted.

The first time it happened, after trying a dozen times at least, I just opened a file with a new name (note: it had to be a TOTALLY new name or it would behave just like the corrupted one) and reentered the lyrics because I also had them written elsewhere.

But this time, I was building this song from scratch in the app. Now I can’t get it to open for one whole second. Can’t get a screenshot of the lyrics. Can’t quickly select any options from the menu. It’s just totally unavailable to me and I’m heartbroken. It was an emotional song I had to spill out and now I don’t know what I wrote. Very sad.

I love this app

This is an amazing app! I would’ve already rated it 5 stars before I even found out about the measure mode! And I really like how it has the syllables next to each line. The way it colors rhymes is a really nice touch, and the search bar has helped me so much! I’ve even used it countless times unrelated to the song I’m writing because it’s so much easier than looking the stuff up! My only problem is that it sometimes freezes for a few seconds (but whatever I type while it’s frozen still shows up). Another thing that could be improved on (but doesn’t really matter much) is that it doesn’t know the syllables of numbers. That does make sense, I imagine it would be incredibly tedious and time-consuming to program every number. Plus, it’s impossible to predict how someone will pronounce the numbers (ex: 695=six ninety five/ six nine five). Overall, this app is AMAZING. It’s got everything a songwriter/poet could want!

Edit: I got a new phone and the app won’t open. There’s about a 100% chance that the tens of hours of work I put into this app are gone, and when I open it it only shows me the beginning animation of the pen scribbling a line before closing and going back to the home screen. The most devastating part is that I can’t use the app anymore, because I need it more than ever right now. Still 5 stars; I loved this app while I could use it...

Lock Out Glitch (Solution)

After nearly 3 hours of freaking out and nearly having a breakdown over the iOS16 glitch where you can no longer access the app, I’ve found a solution (although this won’t be a solution for everyone). If you download the app on an iMac desktop (not a MacBook laptop), you will be able to access all saved files from the app lyric-wise. You won’t be able to access any of the saved voice recordings, but that’s not much of an issue for me since I can remember what melodies I used when I see the lyrics I wrote down. If you don’t have an iMac, I’d recommend finding someone who does, logging onto your iCloud account, downloading the app, and saving your work so that you won’t lose it again. This app was great and I have literally all my music on it (tons and tons and tons of songs), but it’s time to retire this app and move onto something a little more secure, as the developer has clearly abandoned his work, and there won’t be any updates or fixes that’ll allow us to enter the app from our phones.
