MadMuscles: Workouts & Diet
Ratings & Reviews
I’m 31. I have worked in very labor intensive industries since my early teens. My mindset has always been - I work 10-12 hours at least 5 days a week, more physically active than 90% of people, I don’t need to work out. - That’s not a good way of thinking. I travel for work and use planet fitness to shower. I decided I’ll start working out 5 days a week since I’ll already be there every night anyways. I googled 5 day work out program or something and this app popped up, I took the long quiz and knew a few questions into it that I would end up paying something for the results and of course 1 week, 4 week or 12 week. The prices are actually not bad at all. I’m going to assume the plan I got is super generic and most people probably have the exact same regiment but for someone who has zero gym experience, with machines, weights, sets, reps etc. this app has helped me understand a lot about how everything in the gym works and how to use the machines properly. Every workout and set has an explanation and video that are easy to comprehend. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is that it’s constantly asking me to review every work out, the app, I have a bunch of emails and it just gets annoying. I really enjoy the app and how much it has helps me as a beginner, especially at the price point. A lot of value. Not a fan of review nagging, so hopefully now that I gave a whole hearted review it will stop asking. Thanks mad muscle.
Developer ResponseHello 💫 thank you for sharing your life experience and using our app. We are happy that you like our app! Keep going!
It's been nearly a month that I've decided to use MadMuscles as my sports guide to build my muscles on top of. The app gently tracks your workout progress and based what you have defined as a goal coaches you through that. Since I'm using iphone and I have an apple watch to track my movement and sport activity during the day, it would be nice so the app be equipped with a feature to track my activity from the Health app and updates my info regarding my heart beat, burned calories, total movements and so on so it would be able to further coach me better through its bot. I like the meals since I have read in books from specialized sports nutritionists that you should repeat a meal over and over again through your workout plan. It makes it simpler to master preparing a meal very quick which is satisfying. I think there is a lot to enhance concerning profile management panel and adding more creative features would make it an ideal app to choose among similar ones. Thanks for your effort to provide such a great workout experince for anyone who desire to build a healthy and active habit. 🙏🏻Also within a few couple of days regarding an issue with meal plan page, the support team were kindly in contact with me to resolve it and shortly I got error-free. Paying attention to the details on the side of the technical support team and an open-hand cooperation to resolve the reported issues deserved to be acknowledged and appreciated. 🌹🙏🏻

So far, I’ve not been disappointed with the workout routines available through the MadMuscles program. This sounds like a half hearted compliment but that is not my intention. Having recently reactivated my Facebook account for the sole purpose of seeing what the MadMuscles Facebook community had to offer, I was sorely disappointed by the comments of a few people. They were claiming that the program was a scam. It appears this these people wanted to end their subscription and had problems doing that. If that were indeed the case, that does not diminish the effectiveness and value of the program in my estimation. I’ve completed 8 workouts so far and they have all been EXCELLENT. I’ve had to tweak some of workouts due to the fitness test selecting workouts for me initially that could have been more challenging. But there is the key, the program allowed me to tweak the workouts by changing my fitness level etc. I paid so much more for a previous program I completed about 3 weeks ago, that if I’m being honest, compared to MadMuscles, I definitely paid way too much for that program. For anyone who is sincerely looking to lose weight (me), build muscle, get shredded etc., this program deserves your attention. I believe I signed up for the 3 month option. So, I’m very satisfied and we will see how I feel as I continue for the next couple months. As far as the Facebook MadMuscles crowd is concerned, now I know why I previously deactivated my FB account , too many trolls!!!😒🙃

It’s difficult to follow some of the twisting exercises that involve changing the arm position, and also the arm positions that change from right on top to left on top, depending on which side you are facing since the video is showing only the camera angle from the front. That requires me to try to reverse the image and do the opposite of what I’m seeing in front of me and I’m not that coordinated. Maybe having the camera angle move to the back while the demonstrator is standing in front of a mirrored wall and maybe having the two side-by-side so that I can follow the exact movements or showing the front angle as the preview, but then switching to the rear angle so that I can follow the movements exactly rather than trying to picture in my mind what the opposite of what I am seeing is. Some videos even show a side view on the right and on the left. It’s frustrating to not be able to follow along exactly. Since there are different types of tai chi, I think it’s important to do the exact form that I’m looking at rather than substituting it for one that I may have been exposed to in the past. I’ve never been able to do tai chi consistently because it’s a lot to memorize, but I would really really like to be able to do it consistently. Thank you so much for reading this long review!
Developer ResponseHello! 👋 Thank you for your detailed feedback - we appreciate your attention to detail. We will definitely take your comments about camera angles and movement display into account in future updates to make it easier to follow the exercises accurately and repeat them correctly. Your comments help us make the app more convenient and effective for all users.
I was very excited to get started with mad muscles. But in starting to use the app, I have found the instruction for the exercises to be very lacking. The instruction would be OK if the video would hold still and let you see what the example is showing you. Instead, the video jumps from a whole body shot to half a body shot to the legs just when you are trying to get a handle on what the example is doing. The video keeps cutting away so you don’t get a good solid whole picture of the exercise. If you could see the whole body it would help. If you could slow down the initial description it would help. But they explain it quickly once, then keep cutting to half body shots so, while trying to learn, completely new exercises, you have to try to figure it out. If it were “do a sit-up”, go it. But these motions are complex and the instructions act like we just need to hear a 2 second description and not have time to learn it before they start giving you half shot video to follow. I am glad to have the program, but Tia Chi is not native to my movement, so teaching HOW should be first. Also, for the 100 questions it took to prepare you for purchase, the app does a poor job of telling you how to use it. There is a “log” mode that is an option that has zero instructions for what it is for. If they can fix these issues this will be rock solid. And maybe it gets more clear as you go forward. I am on day 2.
Developer ResponseHello! 👋Thank you for your detailed feedback - we really appreciate your observations. We're sorry that the videos and instructions caused difficulties during the training, especially with new and difficult exercises. We will pass your comments on to the team to improve the stability of the videos, as well as add more feature tips. Your experience is important to us, and we strive to make the program more understandable and effective.
I’ve only had the app for a week now. There is a lot that I like about it, but some things that are leaving me wanting. The workouts are definitely challenging and pushing me beyond my ability, which I both like and don’t like. I like that it is building a sweat and pushing me, but I don’t looks that there aren’t any modified workouts to do if I can’t complete one of the super sets as prescribed. It would be nice to finish a full set of a modified exercise instead of only being able to complete a small subset each time the exercise comes up. Also, the meal plan has some interesting recipes that look pretty good, however it is very repetitive. There isn’t any way to scroll through addition recipes once you’ve selected you preferences. It seems like getting the meal ideas for one month (or even one week) is all you need because everything is the same except for 1-2 meals a week. I like the tracking you can do and how you can move the workouts to meet your schedule. I do like the workouts it is giving me, but just feel it expects you to go from cold to already completing a lot of advanced stuff. It would be nice to provide feedback on how you did for each workout and then to modify the workouts after that based on capability

I tried out this app because I needed a little more direction in my workouts. And a full on gym membership isn’t in my budget. I do like the variety of workouts it provides and the schedule it gives. I don’t always stay on schedule for one reason or another. If I miss one day. I will make up for it the next day or the day after, just in an effort to stay consistent. One thing I do find inconvenient is the customization of the workouts. Sometimes I want to change one movement because I don’t the equipment required or I am unable to perform that movement. I can change the entire workout, which I don’t find as a good option because a lot of the movements in that workout are areas I want to strengthen and improve on. I know it’s probably asking a lot. But if the movements can be changed to a scaled version (band assured pull-ups for example) or cable rows being change out for bent over rows. I really don’t want to look through every alternate workout that is listed just to scale or modify one movement. I’ve been doing it on my own anyways, just to save time and get started on the work out. I am generally happy with the app. I feel there are areas that could be improved. Still on the fence if I want to continue my subscription after these first 3 months. Well, thanks for listening. Hope this helps.

I had seen their ad on Facebook and thought that I would give it a try. It says you can try it for free, but of course you have to sign up for something. Long story short I wasn’t able to start the program. I kept getting these emails, but there’s a lot going on in my life. So where I couldn’t make the commitment to bring myself to start working out so I reached out to the company because my 30 days was approaching. I thought I would be able to get a refund. But I kept getting emails giving me an option to give me three months free or I wouldn’t be charged anything and I kept emailing back telling them I would just like a refund. So then they send me I guess the information on the Refund when that’s not what was presented when signing up so they’re not giving me a refund. And that’s fine. I just told them that I would leave a review since they say they pry their self on their business, but if I did not use a product and it was left the same way it was given to me. I don’t see what the issue is especially if I reached out. Before the month was that so whoever is reading this review if you don’t mind wasting money, go ahead and sign up. If you know that you’re not gonna be able to be committed to their program make sure you don’t sign up as well. Because if you decide that you want to change your mind even a few days later, they’re not gonna give you your money back.

So I just recently got this workout plan that I saw over social media it look perfect for me because you can do it at home, I went thru the process to get my workout plan to fit my needs and everything looked good until after I had purchased the plan their system keeps giving you offers that you don’t really want because you want to try the system first and see how it goes, after a few repeatedly offer it got annoying and landed me in their nutrition offer and on this offer their was no way to declined it. I had no choice but to add it into the plan and I got charged. I figured ok I’ll reach out to customer support to explain that this had happened and that I did not want that offer from the beginning, their response was not well at all first they tried to give me the system for 3 months for free but I don’t need the nutrition plan at all, I declined that. The second person said that their policy disqualified me from getting my money back and he cancelled the whole membership entirely and that I would only be able to use it for 1 month and that’s it. I was hoping for a better resolution on this matter but instead they went around the bush just to keep the money for something I didn’t want at all. This review is a WARNING that they will not help you and their system it’s set up to make you buy more products even if you don’t want them.

Horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible horrible…. Now that that’s out of my system… the workouts were alright, the nutrition seems overly complicated. Aside from the actual app the company themselves are greedy, I accidentally let the app renew after not using it (went a different direction with my fitness, app extremely unhelpful with my goal and timelines for my fitness assessment) when I asked for a refund they took about a week to respond, only to ask for MORE information, after supplies they spent another week and said they could not give a refund but would give me 3 months for free, again I stated that I hadn’t used the app since the first week I paid for it, and only wanted a refund for the accidental renewal of their product. They again spent another several days to say that they would not issue a refund, and asked if the could HELP with anything else… seems like I spent 2.5 weeks of them telling me to go kick rocks, then asking how else they can be of service is just annoying and almost seemed condescending. If they would have at least been nice about it I would at least feel better but instead they immediately said things like, “we follow legal guidelines” and “I’m sorry my product didn’t work for you”. You can follow all laws… and still be a TERRIBLE company/person. So to make a long story short, the workouts will probably get you were you want to be eventually, don’t bother with the nutrition, and if you need anything from the company don’t bother wasting you time contacting them!
