maGalleryCreator 4+

I have wanted an app like this for a long time.

The title is true and this is the best solution I have found so far for building and publishing online photo galleries.

I know you can subscribe to an online vendor and pay to host galleries, but I just want a simple way to build and publish galleries for my students - and that is why I bought this app.

The UI is okay. It takes a bit of tinkering, but it works.

One big problem is that when you save your work, you cannot open it again. I save my progess as a .mgrprj file and then when I try and open the file to continue with my work, it will not open. My Mac will not open the file with the maGalleryCreator app. This means I have to build and publish each time since work cannot be saved. This is a major flaw.

Overall, I love the idea behind this app. I wish the developer would invest more time in making this app more robust and please fix the saving and opening of files.

Gets the Job Done

While I am glad this tool exists, because it gets the job done. It is really poorly designed. The interface is about as clunky as you could dream of. It also stalls for long periods. Like when you choose 300 or so photos to add to the gallery. Instead of running a quick script to just note all the file paths, which would take seconds, this program seems to completely stall while it processes each and every photo. This work should be avoided until the gallery is being built. And if you are hoping for a progress bar anytime the program is doing work, nope. I could go on and on about how bad the UI is, but again, I am still happy it exists. It builds nicely functional galleries. They did a good job with that portion. So it was worth the money.

Well-balanced set of features and FAST

I recently needed a web gallery creation app and looked at jAlbum (way to many features and too complex) and a few others but settled on this app.

I'm glad I did as it was easy to set up by adding a folder of photos, tweak a few formatting options, set the output folder, and off we go. It worked perfectly the first time and created a couple of nice galleries. One feature that was really a game-changer is the option to create responsive galleries so that phone and pad users would see the pages narrowed to fit the screens, while laptop and desktop viewers would see the gallery in wide formate.

I had a question about how to add captions and the dev was quick to answer - on New Year's Day, no less! (unfortunately, the way to add captions is by using his other app piQutility, which I already own.)

If you want a quck and easy way to create some web galleries, this app is the way to go.
